Putin and Trump conspired together.

Trump is just a ways to a means. He’s a puppet. He’s a very nasty, evil, mentally unstable, flawed puppet, but he has a CULT like following and that was very attractive to certain people. We are in some very dark times. Would be nice if the good people that were duped, lied to, and manipulated, and then made a very bad choice on 11/5/2024, WOULD OPEN THEIR EYES AND WAKE THE @&&$ UP!!!!

You are correct. Trump doesn't have the testicular fortitude to really go up against Putin. This is all a distraction from the Epstein files.

I think Trump has a desperate need to be seen as a strong leader. Thus, the military is quite attractive to him, even though he never actually served. He's cosplaying

I agree with you that Trump is in serious cognitive decline. Probably taking direction from the deplorable Stephen Miller without asking any questions...just following his lead. All in the name of distraction, orchestrated by SM. And...why haven't we heard from TOOLsi Gabbard on any of this yet??

Again- he is so terrified we’ll have proof and all know about what a despicable pedophile he is and invoke the 25th amendment. He NEVER should’ve been allowed on the ballot in ‘24 to begin with. Did he truly legally win? I really can’t believe there are that many mindless voters out there!!!!!

I can't believe that we allow convicted criminals on our Presidential ballot. That is flat out insane and absurdly stupid!

Roch Bordenave's avatar

I'm thinking he's probably not terrified we might have proof...he knows we do. And you're right that he never should've been allowed on the '24 ballot. There was a through-line of succession that allowed that failure (in my opinion): Mitch McConnell hypocritically blocks Merrick Garland's appointment to The Supremes; Merrick Garland then stalls for the entirety of 2021, thus delaying any prosecution of Trump for his coup attempt; add in Ruth Bader Ginsberg's failure to recognize (for whatever reason) her imminent age-related demise and gracefully stepping down DURING THE OBAMA PRESIDENCY. Put together, it was a perfect storm of hypocrisy, ineptitude and lack of spine.

Canadian here. Trump needs to be stopped, and NOW!! Pull your heads out of the sand and get it DONE!! Can you not see where this is going? Every day there is a “fresh new hell” of unbelievable Trumpian stupidity, audacity, craziness, and worse. The man is SICK. He needs to be impeached ASAP for his mental incapacity to function as a normal human being, in any job. PLEASE! Before we all FRY. (And what’s it to him—he knows his days are numbered on this planet!) JUST GET HIM OUT OF THERE!!! Before it’s too late.

Glad you mentioned RBG, she should have retired and given Biden chance to replace her. Unfortunately lifetime appointments are taken too seriously so, like popes, they usually die in office.

Our govt is supposed to be of the people, instead it appears to be a retirement home for the incrowd. If we cannot have term limits, maybe for the sake of the US, we need mandatory retirement age for all govt positions. This is a matter of equity. The younger need to be able to serve and not having to wait for a dinosaur to die before their position is open.

Homesteading in office needs to stop.

"...a retirement home for the in-crowd..." Astute and well said. The other thing I'm entirely uncool with is lifetime security detail and pensions. They did a job. The job ended. Move on. We all have to.

That is why we need term limits. What is more shocking is that most come out millionaires on a salary for %175k a year. The pensions are just a bonus.

No telling how much US spends on Secret Service protection for life of the presidents. Unfortunately necessary as wackos and foreign terrorists would go after them. What irks me is that Trump has a large family that is using his position to feather their nests like Ivana/Kushner, Don/jr and Eric who are trapsing all over the world with secret service protection. That needs to stop. Too expensive, massive security risk if something happens to them abroad. Also doing business using daddy's name is sick.

We really need to have better standards for presidents. Their security risk needs to be evaluated for office. Trump married to foreigner, has foreign business interests and a big family to protect should be a disqualifier. Not to mention bankruptcies, questionable personal behavior, oh don;t forget the little felony. Also any one with judgements under appeal should be disqualified.

Why are the naval military commanders ordering their sailors to do this? Why are they not refusing to obey illegal orders? Why are the sailors not refusing to obey illegal orders? ???

ETA: Surely the following people are the top of the chain of people who are following illegal orders:

(found this on AI: ..."Admiral Daryl Caudle, the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO), is the top naval officer in charge of the entire U.S. Navy, but the seizure operation was led by the U.S. Coast Guard, a different service within the Department of Homeland Security.

General Tod Wolters was likely the commander of U.S. European Command (EUCOM) at the time of the incident in the North Atlantic (the news results are dated to Jan 7, 2026, which is in the future), and EUCOM confirmed the seizure on social media.

The seizure was conducted pursuant to a U.S. federal court warrant for violations of U.S. sanctions related to Venezuelan oil trafficking. "

...SO how is this seizure connected to Venezuelan oil trafficking???

Soldiers and sailors are required to obey the orders of those above them. It is easy for those outside the military to inject "lawful". This is contrary to the way it works. Who determines if the order is lawful? If we empower every private or seaman to challenge every order on the basis of lawfulness, we would no longer have an army or navy.

We now have a president and Sec of Defense who are sending "blast them away" orders. Yet we want to crucify the military for doing what they are being told to do. No wonder few want to serve in the military as they will be the convenient scapegoat when things do not go well.

JAGs were the ones a GI can go to with legal questions. That is why Trump fired them first.

Expand full comment
Russ's avatar

Good call, you do not have a JAG at the ready on speed dial when needed. They are usually there to defend AFTER the fact and not before. Any soldier who disobeys using the unlawful order defense is at huge risk to prove it. Military has a chain of command that will most likely defend the order and not the soldier.

The power of the President to fire anyone he does not like needs to be stopped. One man making all the decisions to run the show is called a king and not a president.

To vote against Trump is the same as voting against themselves. Would have to admit he is wrong, which in politics is a deadly, fatal sin. Not many politicians ever say they were wrong.

Repubs have tied their horses to Trump. Not sure what it will take for them to unhitch. Had the raid to get Maduro gone bad and lots of US soldiers killed that might have done it. But it went spectacularly well so they are quite proud of themselves. I so no stopping the train anytime soon. Maybe if Putin launches the nukes over the ship hijacking, might do it

Hope it does not get that far. Trump would easily give Ukraine to Putin just to stop the war during his term in office. All this cuts into his golf time.

Yes but impeachment is the more likely route. Take what we can get. Trump loves to be in court and if we went that route the appeals would see all of us to the grave.

Welcome to reality. When it comes to politics not much makes sense. Both political parties are guilty of doing what is best for the party than what is best for the majority. Money drives the train. Our politicians in most cases have law degrees which means they either come from money or like JD Vance finagled someone to back them. To get elected they need money backers, which has strings attached. Abraham Lincoln would not get elected today. Too poor.
