Today is Tuesday, September 9, 2025, and this is your news and preview of today's show.

Congress has obtained a professionally bound birthday book from Jeffrey Epstein’s 50th birthday in 2003. Inside is a letter signed by Donald Trump. The letter, typewritten inside the outline of a naked woman, ends with the words, “Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.” Trump’s signature appears in the space where pubic hair would be.

Trump had previously denied the letter existed, calling it fake, and sued the Wall Street Journal when it reported on it. Trump allies quickly rejected the document’s authenticity. Congressman Tim Burchett suggested the signature may have been created with an autopen. Eric Trump said his father does not draw cartoons. Charlie Kirk posted online that the signature does not match Trump’s.

Handwriting analysts and journalists have compared it with others from the same period and found it consistent. Attorney George Conway released a 2006 letter Trump sent him with a similar signature. Karoline Leavitt also denounced the report as fake news and called it a “Democrat Epstein Hoax.”

Vice President JD Vance drew criticism after responding “I don’t give a shit” when warned that U.S. military strikes on drug cartels could violate international law. Senator Rand Paul called the remark dangerous, warning about executing accused people without trial.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore rejected Trump’s suggestion of sending troops to American cities. He said, “We do not need an occupation. We will work with anybody, but we will bow down to nobody.”

Donald Trump lost his final attempt to overturn the $83.3 million verdict awarded to writer E. Jean Carroll. A federal appeals court rejected his immunity defense, citing his attacks on Carroll as “remarkably high” in reprehensibility. The ruling includes $18.3 million for damages and $65 million in punitive penalties.
