Progressives Crush Australian Elections on Climate Change Platform
Progressives scored a massive victory in Saturday’s elections in Australia with the Labor Party’s Anthony Albanese poised to take over as the next Prime Minister. Votes are still coming in, but the incumbent centrist Liberal Party appears to have lost 24 seats, from 75 before the vote now down to only 51. A major issue in Australia this election cycle was climate change, which is shocking to hear coming from an American perspective. A huge component of Labor’s platform was to double the country’s 2030 target cuts to climate emissions and to be net zero by 2050. They are promising to transition to renewable energy, to update the nation’s energy grid, and to roll out more solar banks and community batteries. In addition to climate change issues, Labor also ran on increasing the minimum wage, and funding child, elderly, and disability services. This is a major win for the progressive movement and the planet at large and we’ll see if they’re able to deliver on their ambitious climate promises.
Marjorie Taylor Greene & Alex Jones Already Have Monkeypox Conspiracies
There is increased concern about the spread of monkey pox due to a small outbreak of the communicable disease, with symptoms including headache, fever, fatigue, muscle pain, and eventually a rash that forms blisters. Unsurprisingly, especially after two years of dealing with COVID-19, conspiracy theories are already forming about monkey pox from people like Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene and Infowars host Alex Jones. Greene speculated that Bill Gates has a hand in this outbreak so that he can treat it and make money off of it. She then went on to dubiously claim that people will need to wear masks to stop the spread of monkey pox and that folks will need to fend off their fear of catching it by cuddling with Bill Gates and Anthony Fauci body pillows. Jones said about the monkey pox outbreak that it may be a side effect of the mass vaccination program for COVID. Clearly Jones and MTG should not be seen as authorities on these issues of science and medicine. But sadly, countless people have already been listening to them and following their advice on these topics for years and are likely to continue doing so.

Cable Providers Are Keeping Fox News Alive
One of the reasons Fox News is able to stay as dominant as they are in the cable news space is that they are often a mandatory channel for cable subscription packages. Even if someone doesn’t want to watch or pay for Fox News, some of their money ends up going to the network and there’s no way out of it unless they want to cut the cord altogether. The average cable subscriber is paying Fox News about two dollars per month or twenty dollars per year. This is part of the reason why advertiser boycotts don’t do too much to affect Fox, since most of its money is coming directly from these cable subscription packages. The only way to put a stop to this is for a mass campaign of people to contact their cable providers and request that Fox News becomes an optional channel that people don’t have to pay for if they don’t want to.

Christian Hate-Preacher Threatens Insurrection, Says DO NOT VOTE for Democrats
A Christian hate preacher named Greg Locke went on an unhinged rant recently wherein he spoke politics from the pulpit and told members of his church who vote for Democrats to leave. Locke, who leads the Global Vision Bible Church in Tennessee, yelled “you cannot be a Christian and vote Democrat in this nation. I don’t care how mad that makes you. You get pissed off as you want to. You cannot be a Christian and vote Democrat in this nation. They are god-denying demons. They butcher babies and hate this nation.” The lunatic preacher also said, “if you vote Democrat, I don’t even want you around this church. You can get out. You can get out you demon. You can get out you baby butchering election thief.” It’s not clear whether the Global Vision Bible Church is tax exempt but it obviously shouldn’t be. Tax-exempt religious institutions cannot discuss politics but sadly it’s a rule that rarely gets enforced and so too often taxpayers have to foot the bill for what churches like these aren’t contributing.
