Republicans HUMILIATED, Fail to Elect a Speaker
Republicans have failed to elect a Speaker of the House after three votes, resulting in a historic and embarrassing situation for the party. Kevin McCarthy received the most votes but was unable to secure the necessary 218 votes to win himself the job. This is because Republicans have an extremely tight majority in the House and can’t afford to lose more than a few votes on this. This marks the first time in 100 years that the majority party has been unable to unite around a candidate for Speaker. It is unclear what McCarthy's next steps will be. More negotiations and subsequent votes are likely to take place in the coming days. But for now, this failure to elect a Speaker has led to the House adjourning without one. McCarthy was prevented once before from winning this office when he wasn’t able to secure enough votes from the Freedom Caucus back in 2015 and Paul Ryan stepped in. Maybe history will repeat itself with an outsider coming in, consolidating the different wings of the party, and winning themself the position.
Trump Delivers Lie-Riddled ALL-CAPS "Endorsement" of Kevin McCarthy for Speaker
Donald Trump took his time before weighing in on the vote for House Speaker but now he has endorsed Republican leader Kevin McCarthy for the job. Trump took to Truth Social and posted, "Some really good conversations took place last night, and it’s now time for all of our GREAT Republican House Members to VOTE FOR KEVIN, CLOSE THE DEAL, TAKE THE VICTORY.” Trump then took this as an opportunity to compare McCarthy to Mitch McConnell, whom he really doesn’t like. He posted, “if Republicans are going to fight, we ought to be fighting Mitch McConnell and his domineering, China loving BOSS, I mean wife, Coco Chow.” It’s obvious that Trump doesn’t personally care about Kevin McCarthy and before these Truth Social posts, he was likely not even concerned about whether he’d become the Speaker. But now that he has gone out on a limb by endorsing McCarthy, he must desperately want him to get the job in order to make himself still look like the kingmaker of the Republican Party.

Full List of Trump's Foreign Bank Accounts
We now have the full list of the foreign bank accounts Donald Trump maintained while he was a candidate and then president and it makes the former POTUS look as corrupt and sketchy as ever. Trump had foreign bank accounts in China, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Saint Martin all in different years between 2016 and 2020. Some people look at this and argue this was Trump just being a good businessman. But in reality, having these accounts open while he was in office suggests he didn’t have the best interests of the United States at heart. There are specific questions now about possible connections between the foreign bank accounts and his actions as president. Examples include the approval of trademarks for the Ivanka Trump brand in China and the funding of Trump's media group by a Chinese firm. All of this is worthy of investigation but as he’s already in so much trouble, maybe this conflict of interest will be seen by authorities as less important.
From yesterday’s show:
2024 Republican Contenders Are SCARY Disaster
Fox Business recently ran a segment about potential 2024 Republican presidential candidates and it made it clear that there aren’t any good options in terms of people who would be positive for the country or at least neutral. Donald Trump was not on the list, since he’s not a potential candidate as he’s already announced he’s running. The list included Mike Pence, Ron DeSantis, Glenn Youngkin, Larry Hogan, Asa Hutchinson, Tim Scott, Mike Pompeo, Nikki Haley, and Chris Christie. All of these possible candidates could be hugely damaging for the country. They push antiquated social policy and an economic policy that has been proven ineffective time and time again. Furthermore, many of these candidates aren’t even interested in policy to begin with, and would rather perpetually participate in the culture war. If there’s a least bad option on this list, it’s likely Chris Christie, but even he would set out to do irreparable damage to the country if he gets the chance.
