Trump CRUSHING DeSantis, up 58% to 21% in latest poll
Some Republicans are calling for the arrest of President Joe Biden, his son Hunter, and other Democrats as retaliation against former President Donald Trump's indictment and arrest in New York. They do not specify the issues they want to arrest the Bidens and other Democrats over; they just want to do it as an act of vindication. Congressman James Comer, who chairs the House Oversight Committee, stated on Fox News that there are DAs in Kentucky and Tennessee trying to find ways to charge the Bidens. Other Republicans, such as right-wing talk radio host Mark Levin and Tom Fitton, the president of the conservative legal group Judicial Watch, are also calling for charges against Democrats. Trump for years was protected by the long-standing idea that you cannot charge a sitting president, and he is only now being held accountable for one of his infractions. Nevertheless, Republicans are ready to turn this into a tit-for-tat and charge Biden and other Democrats over politics rather than for actually breaking the law.
LOL: Republicans want to charge Biden after Trump arrest
According to a new poll from Reuters/Ipsos, former President Donald Trump has gained significant support among Republican voters since his indictment and arrest in connection with the New York hush money payment investigation. Trump is currently polling at 58%, with Ron DeSantis trailing far behind at 21%. Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy, who have both officially declared their candidacies are registering only one percent a piece. While it is important to note that one poll does not necessarily indicate a trend, Trump's growing support among Republicans is notable, especially considering he may face more charges soon in Georgia and Washington DC. If he continues to build momentum, the primary race could be over before it even starts. This is because DeSantis may now be hesitant to announce his candidacy, given Trump's significant lead in the polls. Despite Trump's unpopularity among the general public, many Republicans remain loyal to him, even if it is ultimately detrimental to the party's electoral prospects.
From over the weekend:
Lindsey Graham crying AGAIN, begging for money for Trump
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham is asking people to send money to Donald Trump's campaign. In an emotional appeal on Fox News, Graham begged people to donate, saying that if they could afford five or ten dollars, they should give it to help the former president. He even set up a website for Trump and claimed that 70% of the money would go to help Trump, while 30% would help take back the Senate. However, there are questions about where the money is actually going, with some wondering whether it is going to Trump’s 2024 campaign, his legal defense fund, or something else. Additionally, given that Trump is supposedly a billionaire, it doesn’t make sense that he would need to raise money from his supporters five to ten dollars at a time. Nevertheless, this is not the first time Trump supporters have been grifted and it certainly won’t be the last.
From over the weekend:
CRIMINAL: Clarence Thomas accepted major gifts from Republican billionaire
ProPublica has released a story about Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas accepting gifts from a billionaire Republican donor, in what is a clear violation of the court’s ethical guidelines. For decades, Thomas has accepted gifts from Dallas-based real estate magnate Harlan Crow. The gifts include luxury vacations on Crow’s 162-foot superyacht and Bombardier Global 5000 jet. The justice has broken longstanding norms for judges' conduct by accepting gifts that did not appear on his financial disclosures. This has led ethics experts to accuse him of disregarding his higher ethical obligations. Nancy Gertner, a retired federal judge, said it is “incomprehensible” to her that someone would do this. Virginia Canter, a former government ethics lawyer who served in administrations of both parties, said Thomas “seems to have completely disregarded his higher ethical obligations.” The failure to report the gifts appears to violate a federal disclosure law passed after Watergate. This corruption of public trust violates the ethical obligation of Supreme Court justices to avoid even the appearance of partiality.

Not to worry about the Ron Desantis poll. It is still very early, and only now the Democrats are coming forward to declare a run. Desantis was a weak candidate to begin with. The election is a long way's away. I refuse to worry at this point (and I am generally a worry-wart).
