Republican Releases Dangerous "Plan" to "Rescue" America
Florida Senator Rick Scott has released an eleven-point plan for the Republican Party to “rescue” the United States of America. The blueprint highlights how Republicans are no longer a party about policy because at least nine out of the eleven points are about culture war nonsense instead of actual issues. The plan includes such items as wanting children to say the pledge of allegiance and learning that America is “great” in schools. Another point is about protecting the “American family” at all costs, while a separate one stated “men are men” and “women are women.” Arguably, the only substantive policy matter has to do with cutting social programs under the guise of “stopping socialism.” This platform is so childish that it’s hard to believe it could get adopted by one of the two major parties in the United States. However, with the way the Republican Party has been trending over the past few years, it would not at all be surprising to see this plan from Rick Scott get fully embraced by the right.
Republicans Favor Putin More Than They Favor Democrats
According to recent polling, Republicans approve of Russian President Vladimir Putin more than they do leading Democratic politicians. A recent Economist-YouGov poll found that approximately 15% of Republicans have a very or somewhat favorable view of Putin, whereas only around 8% feel the same about Democrats. Approximately 45% of Republicans say they have a “very unfavorable” view of the Russian president, whereas 75% have a “very unfavorable” view of the Democratic Party. This is a result of highly effective propaganda from networks like Fox News and politicians like Donald Trump. Only a few decades ago, right wingers in the United States viewed Russia (then part of the Soviet Union) as the chief enemy of everything they held dear including democracy and capitalism. Due to years of effective messaging, these folks now view the opposing party in their own country less favorably than they do a dictator like Vladimir Putin.

Russia Threatens US Assets in Response to Sanctions
Russia is now threatening American assets in response to the first round of sanctions against the country for invading Ukraine. Russia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry said it would target sensitive US assets in a “strong” and “painful” response. The Russian agency called the sanctions part of America’s "ongoing attempts to change Russia's course.” The ministry went on to say, “there should be no doubt that sanctions will receive a strong response, not necessarily symmetrical, but finely tuned and painful to the American side.” This is in response to President Biden announcing on Tuesday that the first tranche of sanctions are underway against Russian banks, elites, and government insiders. Biden vowed to “continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates.” Now with a full-scale invasion of Ukraine underway, the economic blows between the US and Russia are almost certain to continue.

Trump Praises Putin AGAIN, LITERALLY as Russia Bombs Ukraine
Donald Trump continues to praise Vladimir Putin for invading Ukraine. Trump received criticism after going on “The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show” earlier this week and referring to the Russian president as “smart” and a “genius.” Although there was a slight tone of sarcasm, it was obvious that Trump was fawning over how Putin has unilateral power, something he did not have as the American president. Trump expanded on his compliments of Putin at an event at his Mar-a-Lago resort. The ex-POTUS said, “[Putin’s] taken over a country for two dollars worth of sanctions. I’d say that’s pretty smart.” It’s not as though Trump was condoning what Putin is doing, but he is clearly enamored with the authoritarian actions of the Russian dictator. Trump went on to argue that if he was still president, the invasion of Ukraine never would have happened. However, if Trump really was still in charge, he’d probably just turn a blind eye to it or take Putin’s side like he did in Helsinki four years ago.

Just when I thought that I couldn't possibly be more (clinically) depressed, this news is finally killing me. And now Trump is saying that the reason why Russia invaded the Urkaine is because Joe Biden stole the election. God help us.
