Triggered OAN Host ATTACKS ME, “Soy-Infused Leftist”
Back in June, we covered a story about OAN host Alison Steinberg ranting about “globalists” tracking her through her Nest home thermostat. The video was crazy, as Steinberg didn’t understand that the smart thermostats have motion sensors to detect when people are home and it wasn’t all part of a nefarious plot to spy on people. Steinberg has finally responded to the coverage we did but didn’t seem to do herself any favors. She said, “you think I’m a crazy conspiracy theorist tinfoil hat-wearing weirdo. Which I actually take as a massive compliment so thank you ever so much.” Steinberg went on to act vindicated because there was a story about people being unable to control their Nests during an energy emergency in Colorado. The important context she left out, however, was that this was a voluntary program that people opted into in exchange for a $100 credit and $25 a year. Steinberg went on to ask for an apology from David, which is neither deserved nor going to come.
Sick Trump Fundraising Off of Killing Drug Dealers
Donald Trump is fundraising off the policy idea of executing drug dealers in the latest showing of how extreme the American right has become. Trump has floated this idea before in speeches, saying things like “I’m calling on Republicans and Democrats immediately to institute — to get to Washington and institute, the death penalty for drug dealers. You will no longer have a problem.” Now Trump’s team is sending out fundraising pitches disguised as polls asking about this topic. One message asked, “do you agree that drug dealers should face the death penalty?” Once people fill out the survey, they are asked to donate money. There are enough problems with the death penalty today in the United States even though it tends to be reserved for only the most heinous crimes. Opening up its use for something like drug trafficking would be exceptionally draconian and put America in some really bad company with other counties that do this around the world.
From yesterday’s show:
Republican Pretends Trump Telepathic Declassification is a Real Thing
Republican lawmakers are now having to respond to the idea that Donald Trump was able to telepathically declassify documents while he was president. That’s because last week, Trump went on Sean Hannity’s show and said, “if you’re the President of the United States you can declassify just by saying it ‘it’s declassified,’ even by thinking about it.” Then over the weekend, Republican Senator John Barrasso was asked by ABC’s George Stephanopoulos whether he believes telepathic declassification to be real, and Barrasso responded, “I’ve not heard that one before George.” Stephanopoulos later pushed back saying it was a rhetorical question and only then did the senator agree that “I don’t think a president can declassify documents by saying so, by thinking about it.” People like Barrasso are so under the thumb of Trumpism that even on something as basic as telepathic declassification, they have to calculate their response as to not upset Trump and their voter base.
From yesterday’s show:
Jared Kushner Slams DeSantis in Desperate Attempt to Help Trump
Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law, went on Fox News and criticized Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s political stunt where he sent 50 migrants to Martha’s Vineyard. Kushner said, “we have to remember these are human beings, they’re people, so seeing them being used as political pawns one way or the other is troubling to me.” Jared comes across as a total hypocrite on this issue since the Trump administration was also extreme on immigration policy and the ex-president tried to send busses of undocumented immigrants from the border to Democratic cities. This change of heart by Kushner only comes now that DeSantis is a surging figure in right-wing politics and could end up facing off against Trump in the 2024 primaries. So while Jared is right to have this opinion, he clearly has ulterior motives.
