Confused-looking Trump promises global trade war in new teleprompter tirade
Donald Trump released a campaign video this week in which he vowed to launch a global trade war if he doesn’t get his way on trade policy. Trump said if he is elected president again, the United States “will phase in a system of universal baseline tariffs on most foreign products. On top of this. higher tariffs will increase incrementally depending on how much individual foreign countries devalue their currency. They devalue their currency to take advantage of the United States.” After all these years, Trump still doesn’t seem to understand trade policy and how when he places tariffs on countries, it’s American companies who have to pay the higher prices, which often get passed onto American consumers. It also ignores the reality that Americans in recent decades have accepted outsourcing labor to foreign countries in exchange for cheaper goods. Trump is clueless on the topic of trade, but it’s quite possible he’ll be able to convince voters that he’s got all of the answers and knows the right way to bring back American manufacturing jobs.
BRUTAL: Drag-banning Republican confronted with HIS OWN drag pics, PANICS
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee got into an altercation with a reporter about his hypocrisy on the issue of dressing in drag. Lee, like many Republicans around the country, has been supporting anti-drag and anti-trans legislation in order to feed into the culture war and satisfy the right-wing base. The Tennessee bill that Lee supports would ban drag performances in public and require children to undergo therapy if they express gender non-conforming behavior. During the press conference, a photo of Lee dressed in drag from his high school yearbook was shown to him, causing the governor to panic. He said, “what a ridiculous question that is. Conflating something like that to sexualized entertainment in front of children, which is a very serious subject.” The reporter accurately fired back that drag is not inherently sexual. Later on, the reporters got to the root of the issue which is that this is a way to target the LGBT community and that Bill Lee is a total hypocrite on this issue.

CPAC in shambles, Fox News ignoring, Mike Pence declines invitation
The 2023 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) is slated to begin on Wednesday and the event is already in shambles. This is because Matt Schlapp, who runs the event, is dealing with credible groping allegations made by a male staffer. This has resulted in a scaled-down version of the conference with fewer speakers and interest than there usually is. Fox News plans on ignoring the event and is refusing to sponsor it despite regularly doing so in years past. Donald Trump and Nikki Haley, who are both running for president, have announced that they will be speaking. However, possible GOP contenders Ron DeSantis and Mike Pence said they will not be there. This is likely a sign of the growing rift within the Republican Party, and with the 2024 primary just getting underway, it couldn’t be happening at a better time.

LOL: Republicans think Trump will stick to loyalty pledge
RNC leadership continues to be under the impression that Donald Trump is going to be willing to sign a pledge promising to support the party’s eventual nominee. The RNC wants every candidate to sign the pledge in order to participate in the debates. Clearly, the party is worried about Trump running in the primary but losing, and then deciding to run for third party, ruining the chances of whoever the Republican nominee ends up being. RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in an interview on CNN that she expects Trump will sign the pledge in order to make it on the debate stage. It’s difficult to imagine Trump being willing to make such a commitment, but maybe he would acquiesce to serve his short-term goals. Then, all he would have to do if he loses is break the promise and come up with some excuse for doing so, like saying the pledge wasn’t legally binding or that it didn’t count because the primary wasn’t fair to him.
