Even TRUMP-APPOINTED judge rules AGAINST him in criminal case!
In the federal classified documents case, Judge Aileen Cannon has ruled against Donald Trump's request to review classified evidence related to his criminal trial at Mar-a-Lago, his residence, where he is accused of illegally storing classified documents. The judge's decision to deny Trump's request is a reasonable one, given the inappropriate nature of reviewing classified evidence at the location where it was unlawfully stored. However, the fact that this seemingly straightforward ruling took five weeks to reach has raised concerns about the judge's motives and whether she might be strategically positioning herself to support Trump's interests in the case at a later stage. While this decision underscores the classified nature of the documents and their government ownership, it leaves lingering questions about Judge Cannon's impartiality and her potential interest in protecting Trump from prosecution.
MORE: Minnesota sues to ban Trump from 2024 ballot
Several states, including Florida, New Hampshire, and now Minnesota, are facing lawsuits attempting to block former President Donald Trump from running in the 2024 presidential election. These legal challenges invoke the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, arguing that Trump's actions, particularly his incitement of an insurrection and support for those involved, disqualify him from holding public office. The 14th Amendment's third section states that individuals who have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the United States or provided aid or comfort to its enemies are ineligible for office unless Congress grants them relief. While it's evident to some that Trump violated this amendment, questions arise about the practical impact of these lawsuits. Critics wonder if preventing Trump from appearing on the ballot in states he was unlikely to win would only energize his supporters in swing states or backfire by galvanizing previously disinterested voters. While the results of these legal disputes remain uncertain, a successful effort to exclude Trump from the ballot would lead to a significant transformation in the race.
From yesterday’s show:
Braindead Trump: Dems bringing back COVID to "rig" 2024 election
Former President Donald Trump is pushing a new COVID conspiracy theory, suggesting that Democrats are bringing back COVID to "rig" the 2024 election. Trump has been promoting this baseless claim, arguing that Democrats are using fear of COVID variants to justify lockdowns, mask mandates, and mail-in ballots, all in an attempt to secure victory in the upcoming election. This conspiracy theory has gained traction among some Republicans, with figures like Pete Hegseth and Michael Knowles also suggesting that Democrats plan to use COVID-related restrictions to manipulate the electoral process. However, this theory lacks credibility on several fronts. Firstly, implementing new lockdowns or restrictions would likely harm President Biden politically, as Trump's handling of the pandemic was widely seen as a failure in 2020. Secondly, the existing mechanisms for mail-in voting already exist and don't require new lockdowns to be put in place. Overall, this conspiracy theory appears to be a baseless attempt to undermine confidence in the democratic process and sow doubt about future elections.
From yesterday’s show:
Mitt Romney pounds Trump AND REPUBLICANS, won't run for re-election
Mitt Romney has announced he won't seek re-election in the United States Senate, citing his age and the need for the next generation to shape the future. Despite clearly being on the right, Romney has proven himself to be a more ethical Republican than those in the establishment and Trumpian wings. His departure underscores the ideological divide within the Republican Party, as more reasonable voices exit or are pushed out when they realize they’d have a difficult time winning a primary. Romney has criticized the Trumpian wing of the party for its lack of coherent policies and questions the authenticity of claims that the 2020 election was stolen. He believes there are no credible allegations of high crimes or misdemeanors for a Biden impeachment, further emphasizing his principled stance within the party. If more Republicans were like Romney, and if he was still the leader of the GOP like he was in 2012, the country would be in a much better position than it is today.

So now, Trump TRULY BELIEVES that the First Amendment gives him license to order hits on judges, prosecutors, and witnesses. And this horror will continue for another 14 months. If he doesn't win the nomination, he will run anyway because (he claims) it's his Consitutional right. Suddenly, the Constitution (which he has thumbed his nose at) is "valid and will work in his favor." God help us.
The Republican Party considers itself to be "The Moral Majority." They are neither.
