Trump glitches badly while explaining his debate prep
Donald Trump recently appeared on Newsmax for an interview with his former campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski. The interview was notable for its unconventional and somewhat bizarre moments. When asked about his debate preparation, Trump claimed his entire life had been preparation, dismissing the need for specific debate prep. He emphasized his past popularity and vote counts as his credentials. Throughout the interview, Trump made various confusing and inaccurate statements, including an exaggerated claim about the number of migrant deaths at the border, stating hundreds of thousands die annually when the actual figure since 1994 is around 10,000. The interview also featured a humorous disclaimer from Newsmax, asserting their acceptance of the 2020 election results, highlighting the legal sensitivities around having Trump on the network. Overall, the interview showcased Trump's reliance on his reputation rather than substantive debate preparation, leading to a mix of humorous and perplexing moments.
Lauren Boebert grabs a hard win, Trump tools & Jamaal Bowman lose badly
Yesterday’s primary races yielded some interesting and mixed results around the country. Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert from Colorado's fourth district won her primary with relative ease, securing about 43% of the vote while her opponents collectively garnered 57%, highlighting how her national name recognition played a crucial role. On the Democratic side, George Latimer decisively defeated incumbent Jamaal Bowman in a contentious primary, marked by controversies and accusations regarding Bowman's outspoken views on Israeli policies, though his unpopularity in the district due to various issues was a significant factor. Additionally, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez easily won her primary with 82% of the vote, demonstrating her strong support base, and Dan Goldman comfortably secured his primary win in New York's 10th district, bolstered by his notable congressional hearings and media presence. The night was particularly tough for MAGA supporters, with several Trump-endorsed candidates, including Pastor Mark Burns, losing their races. This mixed outcome of the primaries sets the stage for interesting general elections ahead.
From yesterday’s show:
Trump says despite dementia, Biden will debate really well
After years of criticizing Joe Biden's cognitive abilities, Donald Trump has surprisingly shifted his stance, now predicting that Biden will perform well in the upcoming debate. On the All In podcast, Trump acknowledged Biden's past debate success against Paul Ryan and expressed that he doesn't underestimate Biden. This change in tone contrasts sharply with Trump's previous claims that Biden is incompetent and in cognitive decline. When pressed about Biden's mental state, Trump avoided direct accusations, despite his long-standing narrative of Biden's incapacity. Instead, he cited Biden's poor policies as his main criticism. The sudden adjustment in Trump's rhetoric seems to be a strategic move, potentially resetting expectations to make Biden’s performance appear less impressive if he does well.
From yesterday’s show:
RFK's "brilliant" VP reappears, gives absolutely absurd interview
Nicole Shanahan, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s vice-presidential running mate, reappeared on the campaign trail in an interview with Elex Michaelson. When asked about the campaign’s strategy to win the election, Shanahan declined to reveal specifics but mentioned having a detailed strategy document. On the issue of threats posed by Trump and Biden, she stated that both represent corporate corruption, making them seem like equally bad options. Shanahan's stance on vaccines emphasized medical freedom and informed consent, opposing mandates for any vaccines, even those required for public school or military participation. Her remarks on the safety and necessity of various vaccines, including the MMR vaccine, were overly-cautious and are easily explained away. Shanahan also discussed her qualifications in foreign policy, citing her background in intellectual property law and spiritual studies. Despite these explanations, her readiness for the role of vice president and the campaign's overall viability is in question.
