Trump interview with Megyn Kelly quickly goes bad
Failed former President Donald Trump sat down for an interview with Megyn Kelly, and the exchange included several surreal moments. The conversation initially centered on Dr. Anthony Fauci, with Trump feigning ignorance about him and even claiming not to know who gave Fauci a presidential commendation. This led to a discussion about Trump's intricate position on COVID-19, where he tried to portray himself as both a freedom advocate and a supporter of vaccines, despite opposition within his base about how he handled the pandemic. Trump criticized Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for following Fauci's advice, highlighting his inconsistency on pandemic measures which he now claims to have been completely against. Lastly, the interview revisited a 2016 debate moment when Trump defended his response to a question about derogatory remarks towards women, deeming it a “nasty question,” but one that he could effectively maneuver to appeal to his voter base. In this interview, Trump showcased his strategy when confronted with contradictions and his unique approach to addressing controversies.
DeSantis gets rare applause for promising to kill people at border
In a recent appearance on Sean Hannity's Fox News show, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis drew attention by making a controversial statement about using lethal force against cartels at the US-Mexico border, eliciting a round of applause from the crowd. He said, “We're using lethal force against the cartels. If they're bringing fentanyl in, breaking into our country, we're going to leave them stone-cold dead at the border. Trust me, they will get the message.” DeSantis's comments, promising extrajudicial killings, highlight the extreme positions that some politicians are willing to embrace to appeal to certain segments of the party's voter base. There are of course moral and ethical concerns raised by such proposals and they contrast with the supposed Republican principles of supporting due process and law and order. Given the positive reaction he got from this statement, DeSantis may be best served by leaning into this type of rhetoric if he wants any shot at winning the Republican primary.
From yesterday’s show:
Republican Speaker announces Biden impeachment inquiry, has no evidence
Republicans have initiated an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, over alleged involvement in Hunter Biden’s overseas business affairs. Despite lacking substantial evidence, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is endorsing the inquiry, as he wants to satisfy his far-right base regardless of the facts. The allegations center around supposed abuse of power, obstruction, and corruption within the Biden administration, particularly concerning special treatment for the president's family. The allegations mainly pertain to Hunter Biden's business dealings, with speculations of Joe Biden's personal gains, all based on unverified tips rather than concrete evidence. There are also claims of Justice Department interference in Hunter Biden's tax investigations and generic bribery accusations, but these lack any substantiation. The inquiry is facing skepticism even within Republican ranks, with many realizing that this could backfire on the GOP and hurt their election chances in 2024.
From yesterday’s show:
TRUMP BEHIND BIDEN IMPEACHMENT INQUIRY
Politico has reported that former President Donald Trump engaged in private meetings with Republicans urging them to pursue the impeachment of President Joe Biden. This move by Trump is striking given his prior claims that the impeachment proceedings against him were politically motivated and orchestrated by Democrats to damage him politically. Despite this, Trump has been actively lobbying House Republicans, including discussions with House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik, following House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's announcement of the inquiry. Trump's eagerness for Biden's impeachment has been publicly expressed, even going so far as to state on his social media platform, Truth Social, “Either IMPEACH the BUM, or fade into OBLIVION. THEY DID IT TO US.” This development highlights Trump's willingness to employ the same tactics he criticized Biden for, showcasing a projection of his own actions onto his political opponents. While it's not necessarily criminal for Trump to encourage Republicans to pursue Biden's impeachment, it underscores the immense hypocrisy of the failed former president.

Still no evidence against Biden. So they go on a wild goose chase! A good way to waste tax payers money. A good way to show the whole world how desperate they are. Also, Keystone Kops in action! Or a dog chasing its tail.
