Another Washingtonion here as well and a 66 year old disabled Navy Veteran who's VA healthcare is still holding on for now. I was born here and our Governor Ferguson is sending a bill to tax the rich here.
I live about 30 mins south of Boston. As a Massachusetts native, it’s hysterical to me when people here complain about
“TAX-A-CHUSETTES” without realizing what they are saying. This state offers so much more than most states and I’m happy to pay more for living here and doing business as well.
Totally agree! The standard of living in the blue states is much higher.........I don't mind paying more for it (and no, I'm NOT wealthy--far from it............).
I have lived in 9 states, 5 red and 4 blue. I can tell you, without exception, the blue states were better to live in. And that’s leaving politics out of it, just general livability.
I've lived in two red states and three blue. Totally agree with you on that--and yes, from experience--not from just "stating" it because I don't like republiCRAPS and their backwards ways!
Hawaiʻi is a very expensive state due to its location in the middle of the Pacific....but our property taxes are low so we donʻt "price out" the local families who have owned their properties since statehood.
I tried living in a red state when I moved to South Carolina in 2010. I lasted seven months before returning to New York. Lower costs did not equal better living, the schools and healthcare system were weak, and the quality of services lagged in ways that affected daily life. People talk about southern charm, but what I experienced did not match the hype.
I grew up in a conservative part of New York, so I understand both environments. After seeing the differences up close, I prefer living in a blue state. The investment in public services, education, infrastructure and healthcare creates a foundation that supports better long term quality of life. Lower taxes and lower costs can look attractive on paper, but they came with tradeoffs that show up quickly and I didn’t like.
lol. I spent a good part of my childhood in upstate NY. Ended up going to high school for 3 years and graduating in SC. Night and day. The schools in SC are pathetic.
I have lived in Colorado all my life. I speak to Uncles, Aunts, cousins etc. , who only moved to, I won’t mention some red states because mortgages were lower. They are miserable. They wish they had never made that decision. They are so backwards in those states. Republicans are literally born liars.
🥺 my ex in laws are now too, that they've retired. Their big house in Monument just got paid off, they only have one grandchild in the state. The weather there is DRASTIC, I couldn't do it with my joints
Sorry about your joints, painful. I live in the Denver area so the weather is not drastic here we have mild spring, typical dry, hot summer comfortable fall and mild winters, so I’m assuming Monument weather is different than here.😉
As Bessent surely knows, blue states are much more welcoming of diversity including, for example, gay men and same sex marriage and same sex parents adoption of children. Values and qualities that cannot be valued in the marketplace.
Not since slaveholders quoted the Bible to justify slavery have we seen such self-righteous hypocrisy at such high levels.
Born in Seattle in 1960. Lived there until 2019 and moved to NE Oregon and yes there is a quality of life that is different, especially western WA and western OR. The county I grew up in, Snohomish County, WA, has seen exponential growth over the last 30 years, and in 2025, population has increased 1.6% from 2024 from 864,113, to almost 878,000. Snohomish County is north of Seattle with I-5 and I-405 as main traffic corridors. Very likely to be over a million by 2029. The traffic is now rated as some of the worst in the nation and the growth continues. Because in spite of crowded roads, there’s beautiful places and every single season on the west coast has recreational offerings. Snow sports are the only truly “off season” activity.
Of course the job market will only grow, which brings people, which brings needs that must be met. My hometown of Arlington, is almost unrecognizable.
I live in a red area now, it’s cheaper to live here after retirement, but there is little industry except farming and viticulture. Wages are lower, many businesses struggle to survive. I belong to a local “Buy Nothing” page and it’s actually pretty tragic to see people asking for food, baby needs, heaters for seniors, basic household needs because they have nothing. But get them to change for the better instead of voting in the same ineffective Republican crackpots and local leadership? No deal. Beg off others but denounce “socialism” while blue counties and cities feed them. Our Republican congressman sends out campaign mailers harping on abortion and gun rights. As if that’s all anyone needs to be concerned over. We have gun rights. Women in OR and WA still have agency over their bodies and medical care decisions. He says nothing about aging populations, expanding healthcare options, education, bringing industry or infrastructure and family support. He sees democrats as rude and obnoxious liberals when he’s pressed about voting to take away healthcare for thousands of children and disabled/elderly people while spouting “right to life” tripe; but we Dems are actually asking him to consider his RED voters best interests also!
I hear your frustration. I used to live in Woodinville and Bremerton, but now I live in Seattle, and I've been to Arlington. I initially came to Washington through Walla Walla back in 1999 with my ex. I used to love it there and even though it is still beautiful there, I refuse to live in MAGA land. Their political views are hurting them now. There's a lot of farms out there and I've heard of Canadians boycotting red states and counties. I know I won't go there anymore. The people I loved there changed so much! I used to look up to them, now I look at them in disbelief as to how nasty they've become. They are unrecognizable to me. I feel very fortunate to have escaped the Trump tribalism of the small towns and to have been able to settle in this area. I've been very happy here.
Proud Washingtonian here. Having lived in Alabama and Florida previously, I can attest that life here is far superior!
Another Washingtonion here as well and a 66 year old disabled Navy Veteran who's VA healthcare is still holding on for now. I was born here and our Governor Ferguson is sending a bill to tax the rich here.
Yes!!!! You made your comment seven hours ago so I doubt you'll read mine.......but of course, I totally agree with you!

Same here in Minnesota. I’ll pay the taxes to maintain the quality of life.
Totally agree! The standard of living in the blue states is much higher.........I don't mind paying more for it (and no, I'm NOT wealthy--far from it............).

Thank you again, David. They just can't get anything right!
Bessent doesn't have any logic.

Did Bessent grow up in a red state, and does he live in one now? If not, why not?
I live in Oregon and I’m happy my taxes are supporting, schools, health care, housing, roads, etc!

Simply because Blue states have more people coming from Red states!
Maga's middle name is "Deceit&Deflection" - D&D for short

Do you mean they live in Monument Colorado?
Yes sorry, should have clarified!

They call it a one horse town for a reason….

Right to life is not the same as a "right to live with dignity"
Once born the right to life folks....
