Texas Republicans approved a highly partisan redistricting map that could add five House seats in 2026, passing strictly along party lines after Democrats staged a walkout. Critics say the move entrenches minority rule. In response, California Governor Gavin Newsom and Democrats are pursuing a mid-decade plan to flip five Republican seats, aiming to neutralize Texas’ advantage. Supporters argue Democrats must “fight fire with fire,” though some analysts warn reciprocal gerrymandering may still favor Republicans.
Economic pressures are mounting, linked to Trump-era trade policies and tariffs. Layoffs at John Deere, rising grocery, soda, and electronics prices, and higher energy costs are partly attributed to tariffs on steel, aluminum, and imports. Analysts say these problems are largely self-inflicted rather than global, with manufacturing slowing, job creation at a three-year low, and consumers feeling the strain.
Trump’s push for Federal Reserve rate cuts has raised concerns about personal financial gain. Since Trump’s second inauguration, he has purchased over $100 million in bonds. A rate reduction would increase the value of these holdings, potentially giving him a financial benefit. This continues a pattern of Trump using his presidential power for private enrichment, from tax cuts and deregulation to selective tariff exemptions.
Kellyanne Conway grew frustrated on Fox News defending Trump, denying he aims to be the “curator of the Smithsonian.” Fox prime-time shows have also fixated on Newsom’s social media strategy, mocking Trump and engaging conservatives, with hosts like Sean Hannity calling it radical.
JD Vance faced public backlash during a performative PR event at Union Station in Washington, DC. Joined by Pete Hegseth and Stephen Miller, Vance highlighted homelessness and minor harassment as a “crime crisis,” despite DC being relatively safe. Protesters booed throughout, revealing the event’s theatrical nature.
Finally, California Governor Gavin Newsom joins us to discuss his redistricting proposal, emphasizing it is temporary, transparent, and democratic, letting voters decide while countering Texas’ actions. He stressed Democrats cannot unilaterally disarm against Republican tactics, framing California’s move as key to protecting the rule of law and future elections.
On today’s bonus show:
Republican Congressman Jeff Van Drew faces backlash for seemingly claiming he spoke to dead people, though he likely meant ballots were sent to deceased voters; Trump blocks new solar and wind projects, tightening renewable permitting; and the African Union backs replacing the Mercator map with the Equal Earth projection to better reflect Africa’s true size.

Ms Kellyann Conway, one day the scales will drop from your eyes and you will see that DJT doesn't work harder than anyone else. He's a grifter, convicted on 34 felonies for presenting "alternate figures, kinda like alternate facts" to get money from banks. He has no feelings for this country or the people in it, unless he can make money off it selling golden tickets and golden shoes, like Willy Wonka. My earnest hope is that he and Vance and the 15 Billionnaires buddies of DJT resign or get removed before they all flush the country in the toilet
Get rod of Miller, vance and Trump in anyway possible and start over
