Trump Nelk Boys interview goes horribly wrong
Over the weekend, the Nelk Boys hosted an interview with former President Donald Trump in which they discussed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and how Florida compares to other states. Although Trump previously praised DeSantis for his handling of COVID-19, he now talks about how poorly things went in Florida during the pandemic. The former president called DeSantis “bad” and “high on crime.” During the interview, Trump also praised North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un and expressed his admiration for dictators in general. Trump then moved on to discuss the treatment of the January 6th prisoners, comparing it unfavorably to how Antifa members were treated. Trump then stated that if he were the president of a South American country, he would dump the prison and mental institution populations into the United States. The major problem with this interview, aside from how much the Nelk Boys were sucking up to Trump, was how uninformed they were about world events and political issues, making getting anything worth taking away from this exchange impossible.
Mike Pillow in shambles, ordered to pay $5 million to guy that debunked him
Mike Lindell, the CEO and founder of MyPillow, has been ordered to pay $5 million after losing his “Prove Mike Wrong” election fraud challenge. Lindell made the offer ahead of his “cyber symposium,” in which he claimed he had data showing Chinese interference in the US election and would pay a large cash prize to anyone who could prove the material was not from the previous year's presidential election. A private arbitration panel ruled that Robert Zeidman, a computer forensics expert, was entitled to the reward money. Zeidman had examined Lindell's data and concluded it had no connection to the 2020 election. In a 23-page decision, the arbitrator said Zeidman proved the material from MyPillow “unequivocally” did not reflect November 2020 election data. Lindell's firm has been directed to pay Zeidman within 30 days. Lindell, who is already taking loans to keep his company afloat, promised to fight the decision in court. Meanwhile, MyPillow is also under lawsuit in a major situation involving Dominion Voting Systems, so this judgment against Lindell is even more bad news for him.
From over the weekend:
DeSantis megadonors REVOLT, FURIOUS about Ron going MAGA
Republican mega-donors are showing signs of revolting against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis because they are unsure he can win a primary race against Donald Trump. Wealthy DeSantis donors have criticized him in a private chat, and one wealthy Florida donor publicly said he had changed his mind about financially supporting DeSantis. This is largely due to DeSantis’s recent political missteps and continuing with his out-of-state publicity tour. The mega-donors were furious that DeSantis referred to Russia's invasion of Ukraine as a “territorial dispute,” and some called on him to walk back the comment. Some donors wrote that they wanted DeSantis to hit back harder at Trump, with one describing him as a “damn wimp.” The low polling performance combined with a possible donor revolt suggests that DeSantis may need to consider not entering the Republican primary race.
From over the weekend:
Republicans abandoned policy and are now all about fear
The Republican Party has shifted away from policy in recent years and toward fear-based politics. Some notable examples include prominent Republicans pushing false claims about election fraud, promoting extremist social views such as anti-transgender legislation, and focusing on cancel culture and perceived threats to free speech. The reason for this shift is that Republicans are losing most policy battles when it comes to public opinion. For instance, a majority of Americans support universal background checks for any gun purchase, raising the minimum wage, and addressing climate change. Instead of addressing these issues, Republicans have focused on making voters afraid and angry, particularly around immigration, which they claim is a threat to jobs and social welfare programs. The rhetoric of the modern Republican Party is based on false premises and stereotypes, such as the idea that lazy brown people are taking jobs and leeching off social welfare programs. The Republican Party's shift away from policy is intentional and a strategic way to get votes despite their ideas being unpopular.
