It isn't just medical misinformation that is exploding on the internet.

Dr. Rubin is the best and I credit his wife's videos for having kept me safe while working retail throughout the Covid epidemic.

I recently became aware of a problem with online content that seems likely to impact health. AI could lessen it-- but doesn't. In fact it makes it worse. The problem is outdated information. The web is filled with old sites dating back over a decade, that have not been updated. When AI scrapes the web for information, it sometimes goes further back in time than the average user is apt to look (like who searches page 10 in Google? ) thus digs up information that may have since been disproved or even found dangerous. If you point out a factual error to Google AI it apologizes, but does it learn from its mistake and change the information dispensed? What, I wonder, are AI companies doing to ensure people in 2030 aren't taking horse medicine because AI found a 2020 Daffy MAGA Duck site and told them it was a fine idea? Seems like the web needs a Snopes-type site for all matters medical.

I don't take any medical advice from the internet or believe any of the bullshit.

For several months, I worked at a supermarket as a cashier in a small town in Georgia and one thing I saw was that people paying for goods with food stamps bought some of the most unhealthy items I had ever seen such as sugary breakfast cereals, carbonated drinks and snacks and this was predominately among African Americans who were also some of the most obese of any of the customers I came in contact with. This is not meant to be a racist comment but one due to observation. As a white man approaching seventy, it is rare that I drink anything other than coffee and water with lemon or lime juice added. At least people can't purchase alcohol or cigarettes with food stamps yet I have seen movements leading to legislation to ban those items I mentioned (sugary foods and drinks) which I feel is a good thing. I know Trump doesn't drink alcohol but guzzles down Diet Coke by the dozen per day and consumes fast food so he isn't much of a role model for upcoming generations. I still can't understand why he appointed an environmental lawyer to run HHS. Wouldn't a real doctor have been a better choice or at least someone with some degree of sanity?

If they can call us Democratic Socialists, then we can start calling them Republican Fascists.
