As an entrepeneur and user of independent media content for many reasons, this is just frightening and should be to all folks that believe in democracy. Quelling independent voices so certain opinion segments are not heard so consumers of media can make an honest and informed decision on their own is BAD. I support David and all others that I follow and encourage you to as well. This is a slippery slope and once it starts getting back to where we were will take time. Thanks for sharing David.
I’m not on TikTok but that sounds scary. I thought TikTok was pro Trump? He likes to brag that he’s number one on TikTac. So plus I thought his backers bought it up.
I am a paid subscriber. I subscribe to Substack. I receive regular emails from you at gmail.com.
Why is email less vulnerable? Do you think Google can't suddenly decide to filter out your emails like YouTube can change its algorithm or TikTok can ban an account? I don't know where Substack hosts it's servers so have no idea if they are vulnerable to an authoritarian lockdown. In an authoritarian government no free speech is assumed to be safe or reliably available. All we can do is vote and keep voting and marching until they are gone.
A perfect example of how the Trump Regime doesn't want the true facts to get out there, so much for Freedom of Speech unless you toe the line with the Trump Regime's lies.
About time for the press and journalists start suing Trump back for defamation of character and violation of Freedom of the Press. As it is now, they are on the defense against his every slander. BBC, amazing it is a non-American organization, that has the courage to call his bluff.
This is about my support for you. In February, I signed up for a one-year subscription for $60.00. In checking my credit card statements, I found that I have also been billed $10.00 in June and July. Can someone please explain why I am getting monthly bills even though I have a 12-month subscription? Please and thank you. Gigi (Judy Rehfeld)
I have no idea how complicated or expensive it is to do, but I know that it is possible to own your own domain and have your own website just like we used to in the distant days of the 90s. You can post anything you like, including videos and no one can ban you.
It’s harder be visible on just private platforms. We need David to be able to contact us when something goes wrong though, and his own list wherever it is stored/backed up is critical.
Nine million followers sounds like power until one anonymous moderation panel decides you no longer exist. That is the great spiritual lesson of social media: never build your monastery on rented land, especially when the landlord is an algorithm with the emotional stability of a casino slot machine. Adam’s ban is bigger than one account because it reminds every independent creator that visibility is not ownership. The audience you can actually reach directly matters more than the audience a platform temporarily allows you to borrow. Follow widely, subscribe directly, and support the voices you do not want erased by lunchtime.
It is we who should be banning TikTok! Deserting it in droves – or like myself – never have engaged with it in the first place.
Thanks for this dire warning. Trump needs to go.
And there is never any hesitation to amplify and spread Trump's BS, or all the other propaganda from Republicans and this administration.
It's also important to remember who owns and controls these platforms, and how much they suck up to and bribe Trump.
I looked at it and promptly rejected it. Snowflake ownership. No Tesla in my yard or X tweeting either. Same reason.

Have been watching you for Years! THANKYOU for continuing to speak TRUTH TO POWER!

Great point! Most websites are hosted on AWS servers at some point, and we know who controls them.
I’d rather have open heart surgery than read TikTok.

Also difficult to circumvent AWS servers and Trump suck-up Bezos.
I wondered what happened to him.
donnie is ill and stupid. We all see it. That's why they're trying to hide it. They can't. We ALL see it.
