“That’s just Trump being Trump, heh-heh,” we were told. No, he’s not. He’s worse. For example, instead of shooting someone on Fifth Avenue, he’s murdered dozen of Caribbean sailors without probable cause.

No no no, you’re all misunderstanding. Paying more for groceries is a GOOD thing. It’s your PATRIOTIC DUTY.

How else would the president afford his next party?

Canadian here....Trump can do whatever he wants...he's already an autocrat&keeping promises is not part of the autocrat's playbook...forget inflation, tariffs & cost of living, Americans should be concentrating on questions like 1. Will the House EVER sit again? 2. How do you fend off implementation of the Insurrection Act? 3. Why do ICE brownshirts get a bye on due process 4. If Prince Andrew gets humbled by Epstein, is that where it ends? Sadly Americans have turned into spectators and fascist slug Trump is leveraging that in the face of civics inaction.

Totally agree with David. The short term consequences were obvious, tariffs, labor shortages, and inflation all behaved exactly as economics predicts. But what really worries me now is the deeper shift we’re sliding into.

We’re moving toward a labor-scarcity economy. More people are retiring than entering the workforce, participation is still below pre-pandemic levels, and immigration, after a brief rebound, is tightening again. That’s millions of missing workers, and no plan to replace them. Add AI disruption, and the squeeze on the middle and working class only gets worse.

So when the administration says, “Don’t worry, the economy will boom next year,” ask, how? A promise isn’t a plan. You can’t slogan your way out of a shrinking labor base and basic math.

Oh please, just because I’m paying $100.00 for the groceries I used to pay $50.00 for, don’t try to tell me I’m paying more. Trump promised lower prices for everything, so $100.00 just has to be less than $50.00. Trump wouldn’t have said it if it wasn’t true.

As a former inpatient medical social worker, when I told folks that people would die, I wasn't exaggerating. And, yet, most folks thought we were all be hyperbolic. Nope. Many of us anticipated all of this though, frankly, most didn't think it would happen this quickly. It's not just Trump. Let me repeat that - it's not just Trump. Trumps mind is a sieve. He's being fed information and the GOP is too ignorant to understand that they've hitched their wagon to a falling star.

Exactly! Since January I've called the sycophants "stooges," but now I've come to realize that tangerine-man is the Stooge who's being played by the heinous fascist liars who surround him. They merely have to speak and he repeats the lies, blather and stupidity that entered his ear canal. It's sad that his physical and mental decline is being used in such a reprehensible way.

Kamala was right about everything. Trump was lying about everything. We have been betrayed by all republicans in Congress, and by the maga supreme court. We've been sold out by mainstream media. I appreciate independent media so much. This is the future. Wake up, America.

Remember it's "Trump and the Republicans", not just "Trump". And the Supreme Court, and the corporate mainstream media (including MSNBC, CNN and CBS), and social media, and...AND don't forget the billions invested in right-leaning media and amplified by online troll farms.

One of the biggest drivers of inflation is the stock market. No one ever talks about this. It is considered unrealized gains and not taxable until you pull money out. Well the unrealized gains on my house translates to my higher property taxes. My house, does not pay for itself, only my income does. So why is the stock market exempt from taxation on its unrealized gains?

So if we are serious about "fighting" inflation, the unrealized gains in the stock market should also be taxed. This would help tamp down inflation and moderate rampant stock market speculation. Also why is investment income taxed at different rates depending on whether they are long or short term? All income, regardless of source should be taxed the same as ordinary income. The argument is that we want to encourage investment. Does that mean we want to discourage people from working?

Oh I see, being a billionaire is tough and they need the tax breaks so let the "little people" pay the taxes instead for all the welfare benefits they receive.

Good Luck on the 4th. GET OUT AND VOTE!!! Pick up neighbours, rally your suburbs. Don't be intimidated. The ICE/AGENTS are a DISGRACE TO THEIR UNIFORMS! Tell them so while standing in line to vote. Ask WHY THEY AREN'T VOTING??? Be polite and non angry. THEN! When you have YOUR representatives elected urge them to change legislation. E.G: Examine Australia and New Zealand Voting laws and procedures.E,G" 2. In Australia As soon as you reach the age of 18 YOU ARE AUTOMATICALLY REGISTERED TO VOTE IN ALL ELE CTIONS. Rid yourselves of vthat ridiculous Electoral College and get yourselves an independent body who will determine boundaries and how to vote, NATIONWIDE! Some States should not have that power alone. These are my humble opinions as observed from overseas and watching for 11 years how you are behaving. You have to STOP THESE MURDERERS IN THE WHITE HOUSE! After Venezueala whose next? Just look at Russia/Ukraine. You think Putin is going to stop there?? And what 'instruction' did the Mango Morlon receive in Alaska. Ever stop to think that all this increased AFTER he returned from Alaska??? Once again, Good Luck. Make the right choices.
