I’m not convinced anyone is REALLY worried about the climate. We aren’t programmed to comprehend such a slow moving death. We could barely wrap our heads around a quick moving pandemic that killed more people than any other pandemic. If we can’t get people to get a simple vaccination to help the other living people around them , I don’t know how we get them to worry about their future grand kids’ environment .

I'm very worried about the environment, as are many, but there are those who, while claiming how much they love their kids & grandkids, say, "Well, I won't be here."

The fact that trump hasn’t been disqualified says something horrible about all of us. Modern day Americans would rather post and blog about something on social media than actually do something about it. In past times, less than 50 years ago, trump would never have gotten away with a fraction of what he has done. It would have triggered protests in every major city in the country! Commerce would have ground to a halt. Constituents would have flooded Congress reps and senators offices with letters and phone calls. Trump would have never been elected in the first place. He would have been jailed the first time he threatened a person or our constitution! Trumpism/fascism is winning because every American now talks tough from the safety behind their devices. Climate change may be what destroys our beloved planet but, social media is what has brought down western civilization!

There are rallies being held and planned, but mainstream media doesn't report them.

Hello dear Democrate friends. Even I am a old man from the Netherlands, i have more than enough from this idiot called Trump.

In all this last years I did not hear a single nice worth for people around him. And even not one worth about the climatcrisis we are living in.

What can you do with this idiot tell me I dont know. But maybe one of the cases in court bring us

a time without him be happy and enjouy that time of peace.

eli, a man from the Netherl;ands born in the last great war 8 febr 1943.

Thanks for reaching out, Eli! You remind us that the world is watching and our allies are concerned. Trump is a vile excuse for a human being. His success is hypnotizing to many here and his promises, although empty, give some comfort.

Educated Americans overwhelmingly support Vice President Harris’s optimistic campaign and believe she will win. Let’s hope sanity and good faith returns to the (not yet) United States.

Thank you Eli! As I'm sure you are aware, our government is not a good representation of the majority of US citizens. This Trumpian MAGA cult movement is more representative of our educational system. Trump said as much in one of his earliest rallies in 2015, "I love uneducated people". Even Trump himself is uneducated. And, I believe, deeply unqualified.

But the people here, the ones who will read this post and react to it, are trying our hardest to get the message out to preserve our Democracy and yes, to address a number of issues. But first we must all vote BLUE all the way. If we lose this election the number one issue of Climate Change may never be addressed. 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙

Economics will solve climate change with or without Trump. Solar wind and batteries are the only economical solution as we move forward and costs continue to decline (staggering 90% cheaper than just 10 years ago!)

Have some technooptimism.

Yes but it is a matter of how fast we move. Every year's delay pushes the eventual global temperature up and increases the risk of climate related disasters and the associated conflicts and human suffering and loss of biodiversity. Delay also increases the risk of flicking over a number of tipping points which could send us into a much hotter climate system that will be impossible to reverse. Economics and technology help, but Government policy is needed to get us moving fast enough to have a future we can live with.

"CO2 accounts for about 64 percent of the warming effect on the climate.

The report said its annual increase of 2.3 ppm marked the 12th consecutive year with an increase greater than two ppm, a streak caused by "historically large fossil fuel CO2 emissions in the 2010s and 2020s."

Last year's figure is 11.4 percent above the 337.1 ppm recorded in 2004.

"CO2 is accumulating in the atmosphere faster than at any time during human existence," the report said, "

The last time there was this much carbon dioxide in the oceans and atmosphere was at least three million to five million years ago.

Vote as if your life depended on it -- because -- well, frankly, the quality of your life and mine--like others-- does. So vote the climate change and global warming deniers out of office until they vote to sustain renewable energy and local jobs to build resilience against the climate crisis we continue to feed with our pollution, waste, and dangerous ignorance. https://editors.eol.org/eoearth/wiki/Climate_change_mitigation

Michigan, Christmas, 1980, 65 degrees! I was 16 and knew then something was going on with the weather. That's what bothers me the most about global warming non-believers, it's happening right before our eyes! I don't care how smart you are, what kind of degree you have or how much money you have, if you are a global warming denier you are as dumb as a box of coal!

Fantastic article David. This is one area in this election where there is a huge gaping hole in terms of media coverage and it's place as a campaign issue. Here in Australia, we are gobsmacked by the fact that a racist, misogynistic, narcistic, climate denying criminal can be n the cusp of being re-elected president of what is one of the supposedly one of the most advanced societies on the planet. But it is equally concerning that global warming ranks appears to rank so low on American's concerns and barely rates a mention in your media or even the liberal leaning podcasts such as your own. Thank you for at last highlighting it as a key issue. I am sure that come 2050, people will look back at the 2020's and scratch their heads in wonder at our refusal to acknowledge the evidence in front of our eyes and act on the advice of scientists everywhere. Good luck in this crucial election. We are all praying that Kamala will win. All eyes in the world are on you right now America.

It's not just Trump. Check out Canada's "conservative" parties, MAGA's second front. They are all MAGA mini-mes. In particular the United Conservative Party (UCP) ruling Alberta who at their party's Annual General Meeting this weekend endorsed a resolution calling on the government to abandon any emissions reduction targets, since CO2 is “a foundational nutrient for all life on earth.” Alberta rulers like to fancy Alberta as a Texas north when in fact we're closer to Louisiana with the corruption and foreign exploitation and Guam with our GDP.

A few things I learned just recently…

According to reliable research, we are already without hope of delivering against the 1.5 degree target… Best case scenario is apparently 2.2 degree achievement and that requires decisive actions from policy makers…

The challenge is not limited to electrification of vehicles and development of renewable energy. We need more stable sources to complement renewables (specifically nuclear) and store energy (requires development of new materials and technologies).

Integration of alternatives to transmission and distribution grid is costly.

We have not made much progress in carbon capture and it is crucial for where we will end up in the next few decades.

All bad news without even accounting for the unforeseen increase in energy demand for AI.

With all of this context, i also want to be a denier.. ignorance is a bliss

As a native Southern Californian, I’ve witnessed climate change in my lifetime. As a child, and a wind hater, I remember 2 or 3 Santa Ana wind events per season. Now, 2 often occur in a week. These winds fanned a wildfire in my neighborhood a few years ago from which we have not yet fully recovered. This is real, and devastating both financially and personally.

On top of so many other issues with schedule F, I also can't stop thinking about how financially irresponsible it is. Turnover is one of the biggest resource drains for any organization, let alone an org the size of the federal government. Truly stupid on every level.

For the moment, our country is doomed and our allies are threatened. The Magats, Magadonians, Magapotemians have been victorious and my heart is heavy. I truly thought that women would prevail in this election, but sadly not enough. Sanity, in the United States, has vanished. I am anxious to see the Magats faces when prices go through the roof.
