Trump's Lawyer Openly Threatening Mar-a-Lago Mole
The search continues for a mole at Mar-a-Lago who may not even exist. Many on the Trumpian right believe the only way the FBI agents would know where to find the documents in Donald Trump’s possession would be if someone with knowledge from the inside informed them. Everyone from Secret Service agents, to resort employees, to former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows have been floated as possible informants. Increasingly, there have been reports that Trump is going nuts trying to identify who the double agent is. This prompted Trump attorney Alina Habba to go on Newsmax and make threats against the mole, arguing their identity will eventually come out so they might as well come forward now. She said, “I understand the witness protection issue but at the same time these witnesses are truly not going to be concealed for very long. That's just not the nature of the DOJ and the FBI.” This is the typical mob speak that we've grown accustomed to ever since Trump entered the world of politics, but it was probably not all that convincing to make the informant want to reveal themself, if they even exist in the first place.
Donald Trump Jr Suffers Complete Meltdown Over FBI Raid
Donald Trump Jr. suffered a complete and total meltdown this week over the recent FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago, with the ex-president's son appearing immensely worried that he and/or his father could end up in prison. Don Jr. in a whiny voice said, "my father says that he would have given them what they wanted had they done this, but no, they needed the FBI Hostage Rescue Team, the HRT, their elite tactical unit and thirty-something agents to show up to my father's home where they wouldn't allow or didn't want any lawyers present." Don then went on to make the claim that Democrats can do whatever they want criminally and get away with it but that Republicans are held accountable for even the tiniest of infractions. Republicans have used every defense of Trump they could come up with since last week’s FBI raid but all along the key one has been to play the victim and act like this is part of a baseless persecution of the former president and not a legitimate investigation.
From yesterday’s show:
Biden Signs Inflation Reduction Act Into Law
Joe Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law earlier this week in what was yet another legislative accomplishment by the president and the Democratic Party. The bill passed the US Senate earlier this month with Kamala Harris casting the tie-breaking vote before passing the House by another slim 220 to 207 margin and eventually getting to Biden's desk. The package will cost around $430 billion but is expected to reduce the deficit by over $300 billion and raise $737 billion in revenue over ten years. The new law includes a $369 billion investment for climate and energy policies and $64 billion for extending the Affordable Care Act and reducing health insurance costs. There is also a 15% corporate minimum tax being instituted for large companies and a 1% tax on stock buybacks. Finally, the bill will reduce drug prices for Medicare recipients and cap their out-of-pocket yearly costs at $2,000. Although the legislation doesn't go nearly as far as the original Build Back Better plan, this is still a major win for Democrats who need to make the case to voters to reelect them in November.
From yesterday’s show:
Tucker Carlson: Trump is "Obviously" Getting Indicted
Fox News propagandist Tucker Carlson is starting to prepare his audience for what he believes to be a forthcoming indictment of Donald Trump by the Justice Department. Tucker said on his show earlier this week, “. . .the Biden Justice Department or some other state law enforcement agency under their influence finally does what you know they are going to do which is indict Donald Trump. Obviously they're going to do that.” It's doubtful that Tucker has some advanced knowledge of the FBI's plans, but he appears to see the writing on the wall that charges against the former president are likely. What Carlson is trying to achieve with his commentary is to get out ahead of the news, so he can treat it as expected and no big deal if and when charges do come Trump's way. Tucker then went on to make the claim that the rights of everyday citizens including freedom of speech are under attack because of the raid on Mar-a-Lago and the possibility that Trump could end up in trouble. Tucker is playing his audience like a fiddle and with how willing to commit violence many Trumpists are, he could aid in the situation getting even uglier than it already is.
