AUDIO: Confused Dianne Feinstein says she was not gone 3 months
Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein is facing calls to resign after a conversation was released in which she appeared to have no memory of being absent from the Senate for the last three months due to health issues. The issue is not about ageism but rather about competency. Feinstein's memory lapses and apparent confusion have raised doubts about her ability to fulfill her duties effectively. Her memory issues have affected her interactions with colleagues and her role on the Judiciary Committee. The best option being discussed is for her family members and close friends and colleagues to convince her to step down. If she resigns, California Governor Gavin Newsom would choose her replacement. This situation has had implications for the Democratic Party's judicial nominations, with many appointments getting delayed until Feinstein could return to the Senate after her three-month hiatus. While potential solutions such as age limits for senators can be considered, the immediate focus is on the calls for Feinstein's resignation due to her current state and the troubling audio revealing her memory problems.
Absolutely BONKERS Trump supporter interviews
YouTuber Adam Mockler interviewed Trump supporters at a canceled rally in Iowa over the weekend. The conversations mostly touched on attitudes toward trans people and conspiracy theories. One supporter believed that 20% of Americans are transgender, showing a tendency to overstate the prevalence of certain groups. When discussing gender dysphoria treatment, another Trumpist said they supported it as long as they weren't personally paying for it. However, they seemed unaware that insurance payments come from a shared pool of contributors. The discussion then shifted to cannabis, where one Trump supporter claimed it causes mental issues, despite there not being evidence to support this. The interviews then delved into election-related conspiracies, including the idea that the election was stolen and that the Capitol attack on January 6th was orchestrated by Democrats and the deep state. Overall, the exchanges with Trump supporters revealed a mix of misinformed beliefs, conspiracy theories, and a reluctance to consider contrary evidence.
From yesterday’s show:
Desperate Alex Jones says Kari Lake is "really" the Governor
Infowars conspiracy theorist Alex Jone claimed on Steve Bannon’s show that Kari Lake is the actual governor of Arizona. Of course, Katie Hobbs received more votes in the November 2022 election and was inaugurated as the governor of Arizona. But that didn’t stop Jones from saying, “We have to continue to expose what's happening. We have to get integrity in elections. There's total fraud. Arizona is the perfect example. Carrie Lake's an incredible champion of freedom there. She's obviously really the governor. The person that ran the election, I believe, stole the election from her.” It’s become in vogue lately to claim that Alex Jones has been right about the wacky theories he puts out there. Instances like this show once again that Jones has no credibility as he’s willing to make outrageous statements like this without providing any evidence. During this dialogue, Jones went on to claim that when he goes to the liberal areas of Austin, Texas, people express remorse and agree with his views on the government. It’s totally implausible to believe liberals have suddenly embraced Alex Jones after his years of placating to Trump and the right-wing MAGA movement.
From yesterday’s show:
Sarah Palin visibly struggles to use language during sick interview
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin went on Newsmax to talk about immigration across the US-Mexico border. Palin argued that the border is open and criticized the displacement of veterans in favor of undocumented immigrants. Palin said, “the open borders, you know, in school, in civics, in U.S. history class, we all learned the definition of treason. And if it's if this isn't treason, when you consider what our leaders are doing in their aiding and abetting illegal aliens and they're putting our safety, the security of our nation, ultimately our sovereignty at risk, we are being destroyed by the left's open borders policies.” There is, of course, no evidence or policy supporting the claim that the border is open. The Biden administration, like the Trump administration, has emphasized the closure of the border, increased border security measures, and a decrease in encounters since Title 42 expired. It’s also transparently fake for Palin to express concern over veterans, given her previous support for the Iraq War and the Republican Party's disastrous track record on veterans' benefits.
