WOW: Trump 34 FELONY charges, no handcuffs, no mugshot, no cameras
Today, President Donald Trump was arrested and charged with 34 felony counts for falsification of business records. Despite being charged with multiple felonies, Trump was not placed in handcuffs, put in a jail cell, or subjected to a mugshot. This is presumably part of the special treatment Trump is getting, being a former U.S. president accused of white-collar crimes. Ahead of his processing, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office consulted with Secret Service and New York City court officials, and they deemed that there was no reason to put Trump in handcuffs or give him a mugshot. The former president was protected by Secret Service agents at all times. There were still photos taken during the arraignment, but no video cameras, despite many calling for live video cameras given the immense public interest in the case and its political implications.
Trump TERRIFIED, says indict everyone on night before arrest
On the eve of his arrest, Donald Trump went on Truth Social and called for the indictment of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and special counsel Jack Smith. Trump wrote about Bragg, “Wow! District Attorney Bragg just illegally LEAKED the various points, and complete information, on the pathetic Indictment against me. I know the reporter and so, unfortunately, does he. This means that he MUST BE IMMEDIATELY INDICTED.” Then he posted about Smith, “Speaking of LEAKS, Special Prosecutor’ Jack Smith (What did his name used to be?) leaked massive amounts of information to The Washington ComPost. This is illegal, and I assume this Radical Left Lunatic, much to the chagrin of his Trump Hating wife and family, will be PROSECUTED?” Clearly, Trump is freaking out about the possibility that these charges and investigations torpedo his 2024 presidential campaign and that he may even end up serving time behind bars.
From yesterday’s show:
Trump desperately begs for money on eve of arrest
On the eve of his arraignment, Donald Trump put out a video begging his supporters for money. It is not clear what the contributions are for, but it is likely for his 2024 campaign or legal defense fund. Trump said in the video, “No president in the history of our country has been subjected to such vicious and disgusting attacks. But they only attack me because I fight for you. It's very simple.” Despite being a billionaire, Trump continues to ask for donations from his supporters, whom he sees as marks in an ongoing con. Trump has been able to raise millions of dollars since the indictment and surely more will be coming in following his arraignment. He will likely be able to keep this grift going for a long time since the legal proceedings in New York will take a while and he may have more charges coming his way from Georgia and Washington D.C. courts.
From yesterday’s show:
Former Arkansas Republican Governor challenging Trump for 2024 nomination
Former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson has announced that he will be running for the presidency in the 2024 Republican primary. He will be facing Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and former President Donald Trump. It is unlikely that Hutchinson will make it past the first Republican primary, and realistically, he has next to no chance of actually winning. More candidates entering the Republican primary generally seem to favor Donald Trump as the polls show they split the vote and give the former president a clearer plurality. Hutchinson's decision to run for president raises the question of what is actually in the minds of individuals who decide to run when they don’t seem to have a shot. It is unclear whether these candidates are being told they have a chance of winning or if they are aware of the reality of their situation and are instead auditioning for another job in politics or media.
