Trump BANNED, KICKED OFF Colorado Presidential ballot!
In an unprecedented move, the Colorado Supreme Court has banned former President Donald Trump from running for president in the state, after a 4-3 decision based on Section Three of the 14th Amendment. The court contends that Trump's alleged involvement in or incitement of the January 6th insurrection disqualifies him from seeking office. While the ruling impacts Trump's candidacy in the Colorado Republican presidential primary and general election, its broader implications raise the possibility of similar decisions in other states. This development prompts speculation on the potential hypocrisy of Republicans regarding their stance on states' rights. Despite Colorado leaning Democratic, the decision may trigger a series of legal challenges, making it a pivotal moment in American politics with implications that extend beyond the confines of a single state's election.
Trump struggles to speak at cognitive decline rally
In a recent rally in Waterloo, Iowa, former President Donald Trump delivered a speech marked by apparent cognitive struggles, as he stumbled over words and struggled to articulate the phrase "cognitive decline." Despite denying any cognitive issues, Trump faced irony when trying to discuss the topic. During the rally, he revisited his claim that unspecified forces are "destroying the blood of our country" and made an unsolicited remark about never having read Hitler's "Mein Kampf." Trump's speech also included baseless claims about people coming from insane asylums and attributed the current stock market success to his past actions, while simultaneously downplaying its significance. Additionally, he promised to indemnify all police officers and law enforcement officials throughout the United States, despite facing criticism for his handling of the Capitol Police during the January 6th insurrection. The disjointed and at times confusing nature of Trump's speech highlights concerns about his coherence and calls for vigilance in the face of a potential return to the presidency.
From yesterday’s show:
Trump reaches RECORD HIGH polling, crushing EVERYONE
Recent polling data for the 2024 Republican primary reveals Donald Trump's unprecedented 63% support, overshadowing other contenders like Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Chris Christie, who collectively share the remaining 37%. Notably, DeSantis and Haley are in a close race for second place, both effectively tied at 11% support each. Despite Trump facing legal challenges with 91 felony counts and four criminal trials, his popularity remains robust. Concerns have been raised about Trump's authoritarian promises, including plans to use the Justice Department against political foes and target disliked media outlets. Looking at general election polling, Harris X, YouGov Economist, and Ipsos-Reuters polls all show Trump currently besting Biden by several points. Uncertainties remain about the election, including the outcome of Trump’s criminal trials and the economic conditions a year from now. However, Biden is certainly behind Trump now, which should be a wake-up call to moderates and progressives to make sure they are registered and plan to vote in November 2024.
From yesterday’s show:
Rudy Giuliani sued AGAIN after $148 million verdict
Rudy Giuliani is facing yet another lawsuit from the same individuals who recently won a $148 million defamation verdict against him. Former Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, are suing Giuliani again, seeking a permanent injunction to prevent him from spreading false statements about their role as absentee ballot counters in the 2020 election. Giuliani, despite the hefty verdict, continues to make allegedly defamatory remarks about the plaintiffs. The lawsuit contends that Giuliani's persistence in spreading falsehoods, coupled with his refusal to refrain from such statements, indicates a campaign of targeted defamation and harassment that must be halted. Giuliani, facing financial challenges and criminal charges in Georgia, appears undeterred, publicly asserting the truth of his initial claims and asserting that the new lawsuit aims to force him to lie. Despite ongoing legal challenges, Giuliani seems unswayed by past mistakes, particularly his association with Donald Trump who put him in this position in the first place.

To deal with the opposition to abortion rights Democrats should label them the Forced Birth Party. It sounds a lot more negative than Pro Life and a lot more accurate. I'm against the overturning of Roe V Wade and believe women should be able to choose.
David Leonhardt's book, Ours Was the Shining Future: the Story of the American Dream, lays out the some reasons so many people, especially blue collar people are attracted to Trump. He would be a good guest for your program. His book is worth reading.
