SOURCE: Joe Biden Not Running For Reelection
Democratic Representative Carolyn Maloney said that President Joe Biden will not be running for reelection in 2024. Maloney was speaking to New York Times reporters and told them that “off the record” Biden won’t be running again and also that she doesn’t want him to run again. However, since both Maloney and the Times didn’t first agree to the statement being off the record, it was publicly reported. This led to Maloney having to go on CNN to apologize to Biden and say that he’s a great president and she wants him to run for a second term. If Carolyn really does have inside information as to the president’s plans, that would confirm what many of us already expected about Biden. The president would be 82 years old by the time he’s sworn in for a second term and 86 by the time he leaves office. It makes sense that at that advanced age, Biden won’t want to have one of the most demanding and stressful jobs in the world.
No, Trump Couldn't Declassify Whatever He Wanted
Trump associates have been arguing in recent weeks that the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago is a nothing burger because even if Trump had classified documents in his possession, it wouldn’t matter since presidents have the unilateral power to declassify whatever they want. Government officials are pushing back on this claim, saying that there is a process for declassifying sensitive material, with former CIA Director Leon Panetta calling the idea Trump could declassify things on a whim “B.S.” Furthermore, none of the things the FBI is investigating Trump for in this probe require the documents to be classified. The Espionage Act violations, concealment of documents, and obstruction of justice allegations don’t depend on this, as Trump should not have had the documents in his possession in the first place and then refused to hand them over when instructed to. Trump supporters have come up with a number of excuses for him ever since the FBI raid and this is yet another one that doesn’t square up.
From yesterday’s show:
Eric Trump Says Trump Mar-a-Lago Raid Will Cause Terrorist Attack
Eric Trump, the former president’s middle son, went on Newsmax this week and made the claim that the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago will lead to a terrorist attack. Eric made the dubious statement that because some 30-something agents were at Trump’s home in Florida, some terrorist attack that’s currently in the works won’t be able to be prevented. He said to anchor Greg Kelly, “if there’s ever another terrorist attack in this country, if there’s ever another shooting in this country, the next time you see a serial killer in this country, I want everybody to remember that the FBI spent all their resources going into Mar-a-Lago to look for effectively records for a public library.” What Eric may not realize is that the FBI has 35,000 employees and they don’t work on one case at a time. This is also not a point he or anyone on the right was making when the FBI was investigating the Hillary Clinton email scandal. The bad takes just keep coming from Eric Trump and they seem to be getting worse over time.
From earlier this week:
WOW: Marco Rubio, Dr Oz, Herschel Walker All Losing Senate Races
Democrats are now favored to hold the US Senate following the 2022 midterms, with FiveThirtyEight saying that Dems have a 61% chance of holding the upper chamber. Some key races include the one in Florida, where Democrat Val Demings, a congresswoman and former police officer, is leading incumbent Republican Marco Rubio by 4% according to a Public Opinion Research Lab poll. In the Pennsylvania race, Democrat John Fetterman is up 11% over Republican Mehmet Oz according to a Fox News poll. Lastly, incumbent Democrat Raphael Warncok is beating Republican challenger Herschel Walker by 4% according to Fox. None of these races are guarantees for the Democrats and everyone who is eligible must vote. But Democrats look to be in a much stronger position going into the midterms than they were in some months ago.

I just wrote to Liz Cheney and urged her to defect to the Democratic Party. She no longer appeals to the Republicans and would be a good fit for the Democratic Party. If Joe Biden is unable to run again, Ms. Cheney (as a Democrat) could easily win the election by at least (the) 83 million votes that Biden rec'd in the last election. If she ran as a Republican, she wouldn't even get out of the starting gate. And I don't think that our country is ready to vote for an Independent candidate. She should be encouraged.
