FURIOUS Trump shows up in court for latest disaster
In a contentious court appearance in New York, former President Donald Trump began a $250 million civil fraud trial alongside his sons, accused of various fraudulent activities, including misleading property valuations. While this civil suit presents significant challenges, Trump's criminal risk remains minimal in this matter compared to his other trials. The courtroom scene drew attention as Trump sat stoically next to his lawyer, Alina Habba, and a video of the proceedings sparked criticism, notably when observers noted the judge, Arthur Engoron, appeared to be grinning. New York Attorney General Letitia James stressed that the message was clear: no one, regardless of power or wealth, is above the law. The trial is expected to extend until December 22nd and it poses a substantial threat to Trump's business, potentially jeopardizing its right to operate in New York. Following his court appearance, Trump wasted no time launching attacks against all involved parties, setting the stage for a heated legal battle ahead.
Trump has EPIC MELTDOWN after disastrous court appearance
Following a disastrous court appearance, former President Donald Trump spoke to reporters and displayed a mixture of bravado and unease. Trump launched a series of scathing attacks on the judge and the attorney general involved in his $250 million civil fraud trial. Trump accused Judge Arthur Engoron of criminal conduct and called for his disbarment and removal from the bench, despite such tactics being risky and counterproductive. He vehemently defended the alleged inflated valuations of his properties and insinuated that the trial was a political vendetta. Trump's combative stance seemed to be a strategy to paint the legal action as an attack on him and his supporters, rather than addressing the allegations of fraud. He also suggested that his legal battles were boosting his popularity in the polls and blamed Attorney General Letitia James for driving businesses away from New York. Trump's post-trial press conference raises questions about the potential for even more contentious and bizarre public statements as he has a number of unrelated legal proceedings upcoming.
From yesterday’s show:
Did Ron DeSantis make this up out of thin air?
The credibility of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has come under scrutiny after he told conflicting stories about people getting mugged in California. Initially, DeSantis mentioned during the Republican presidential debate that he encountered three to four mugging victims, but just three days later, he claimed the number had suddenly grown to six or seven. This inconsistency raises questions about whether these mugging victims actually exist or if DeSantis fabricated the story for political purposes. Getting caught in this lie is likely a low concern for DeSantis as he was able to get his point across to a friendly right-wing audience in the debate and subsequent media interview. Additionally, there is little chance of DeSantis securing the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential election, as former President Donald Trump is currently polling at 57%, while DeSantis lags behind at 13.5%. With the election drawing closer, time is running out for challengers like DeSantis to gain traction and challenge Trump's dominant lead in the race.
From yesterday’s show:
Senator Dianne Feinstein dead at 90, Newsom will replace her with Laphonza Butler
Dianne Feinstein, who served as the longest-serving senator from California, passed away late last week at the age of 90. Governor Gavin Newsom moved quickly to fill her seat by appointing Laphonza Butler, making her not only the temporary successor but also the first black lesbian to serve in Congress. Butler's nomination has sparked controversy due to questions about her residency, including voter registration and property ownership ties in Maryland. Feinstein's extensive career, which spanned over half a century, boasted significant legislative achievements, though it was overshadowed in recent years by concerns about her declining health, igniting debates about the necessity of age limits for elected officials. Newsom's intention is for Butler's appointment to be temporary, consistent with his prior statement that he aims to select someone who won't seek a six-year term of their own. The most likely candidates to win next year include Adam Schiff, Katie Porter, and Barbara Lee, but first a contentious jungle primary will narrow the field down to two before the general election takes place next November,
