Several Democratic governors are increasingly asserting state authority to resist Donald Trump’s policies, especially in health care, climate, gun safety, and immigration. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, for example, insists that health decisions in his state will follow science rather than directives from Trump or RFK Jr. Governors in California, New York, Illinois, and Massachusetts are maintaining stricter standards than the federal government requires. While federal law prevails in some areas, states retain significant powers to govern independently, signaling growing state-level pushback.
In a recent interview, Eric Trump repeatedly used “they” to describe numerous unrelated events. He linked gag orders, impeachments, the Steele dossier, Russia investigations, social-media bans, FBI raids, ballot removals, bank closures, and even alleged assassination attempts to a single conspiratorial force. In reality, these actions involved distinct entities, including judges, House members, intelligence agencies, tech companies, state officials, and banks, but Eric Trump collapsed them into one villainous “they” to reinforce a narrative of victimhood.
David canceled his planned appearance on Jubilee’s Surrounded, where he would have debated 20 right-wing Gen Zers. Security was initially a concern after Charlie Kirk’s death, but Jubilee addressed the risks. The main reason is ethical and strategic: the format amplifies extremism, edits out constructive discussion, and sometimes exploits vulnerable participants.
Trump’s “tough on trade” policy has been an unmitigated disaster. Tariffs act as hidden taxes, raising prices on everyday items, housing, and construction materials. Farmers affected by tariffs are then bailed out with taxpayer dollars, meaning Americans pay twice. The policy creates roughly $170 billion in hidden costs annually, along with inflationary ripple effects, delayed raises, and strained local budgets. Ordinary families bear the burden, while the wealthy largely avoid it.
Finally, a poll from Lake Research Partners shows Trump facing historically low support in swing districts. Forty-nine percent favor impeachment, and 56% disapprove of his performance. These voters will likely determine control of the House in 2026, signaling major political challenges for Trump.
On today’s bonus show:
Karoline Leavitt holds a press briefing on the ongoing government shutdown. New polling shows that most Republicans want to keep Affordable Care Act subsidies. And more right-wing reactions to Bad Bunny being announced as the Super Bowl halftime performer.

For those of you criticizing me for supporting the Blackouts and Strike because they hurt poor people and small businesses consider this -
"DC doesn’t feel the same as it did even a year ago. One night during my trip, I went back to a restaurant I’d visited last year. Back then, the place was buzzing, so packed that you had to put your name on a waiting list just to get in. This time, I arrived during peak dinner hours, and the dining room was almost empty. I asked the workers what had changed. They told me that ever since Donald Trump ordered the National Guard onto DC streets and increased ICE patrols, business has collapsed. People are scared, and if this keeps up, they don’t know how much longer they can ride this out for.
This is what happens when politicians use military presence and immigration crackdowns to score political points: local businesses collapse, workers lose their jobs, and entire communities are pushed into fear.” ~Carlos Eduardo Espina
The tRump's government shutdown also hurts the poor and millions more.
For those of you who are complaining that I comment too much.
I'm not a computer scientist but I do know that the more comments my favorite writers gets the stronger their Substack's becomes.
The organizers planning these Anti-tRump / Fight the Oligarchs Resistance get much needed attention for their events.
We are not oligarchs with unlimited marketing funds. I found a way to support the news writers and broadcasters and the resistance organizers at the same time by listening to these broadcasts while I do, what I encourage all my readers to do - support each other by using our voices to spread the word about ways to support these movements.
No one makes anyone read my comments or anyone else's. Only people truly trying to find ways to end the administration from hell actually read them. I give them options! For those of you who are complaining that I comment too much.
