ANOTHER: Donald Trump DISQUALIFIED from Maine ballot
Failed former President Donald Trump has been disqualified from the primary ballot in Maine, making it the second state, after Colorado, to bar him from running again due to his role in inciting the January 6, 2021, insurrection. The decision, made by Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, a Democrat, is expected to be appealed, with Republicans decrying it as autocracy and fascism. The Colorado Supreme Court had similarly ruled that Trump couldn't appear on the ballot there under the constitutional provision preventing insurrectionists from holding office. Both states have temporarily stayed their decisions to allow Trump to pursue appeals. Trump's disqualification in two primary states doesn't directly impact his potential presidential candidacy, as the electoral path to 270 votes doesn't rely on Maine or Colorado. While the preference would be to defeat Trump through traditional means rather than relying on legal disqualifications, if he’s deemed to have incited an insurrection, he should be banned from holding public office as Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution requires.
Tucker warns audience, if you kill someone, you might go to prison
Tucker Carlson's show, Tucker on X, regularly promotes dangerous conspiracy theories, specifically challenging the conviction of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd. Carlson contends that Chauvin did not murder Floyd, asserting that Floyd's death was due to a drug overdose rather than police action. He emphasizes the presence of fatal levels of fentanyl in Floyd's system and questions the official autopsy reports that attribute the cause of death to police restraint. Additionally, Carlson extends this argument to issue a broader warning, suggesting that individuals may face imprisonment if they kill someone, which shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. The commentary also covered Chauvin's recent stabbing in prison, with Carlson highlighting the incident and asserting the need to denounce extrajudicial punishments while presenting it as a potential consequence individuals might face if convicted.
From yesterday’s show:
Nikki Haley DOESN'T MENTION slavery as cause of Civil War
Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina and a Republican presidential candidate, is facing criticism for her response to a voter's question about the cause of the United States Civil War. Haley, when asked directly about the issue, avoided explicitly mentioning slavery and instead attributed the conflict to disagreements over government structure and individual freedoms. Critics argue that her response reflects a refusal to acknowledge the central role of slavery in the Civil War, pointing to a broader trend among Republicans who shy away from discussing the historical legacy of slavery and white supremacy. Haley's failure to provide a straightforward answer suggests it may have been driven by a fear of alienating supporters in MAGA circles and the influence of Donald Trump.
From yesterday’s show:
Chris Christie won't drop out, pounds Trump HARD again
Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie put out a campaign ad positioning himself as the sole contender willing to openly criticize former President Donald Trump. Despite his longstanding association with Trump, Christie emphasized his commitment to exposing Trump's lies, divisive tactics, and authoritarian tendencies. The announcement underscores his resolute stance, even in the face of suggestions that he should withdraw from the race. Christie's candidacy reveals a palpable anxiety among some Republicans to rally behind a single alternative to Trump in the lead-up to crucial contests in Iowa and New Hampshire. However, the broader question emerges regarding the apparent shift in Christie's stance, from being a staunch supporter of Trump to now condemning his actions, prompting critics to demand an explanation for this change. Despite Christie's confidence in his chances against Joe Biden, the broader Republican sentiment appears resistant to such a shift, indicating a commitment to Trump even amid his challenges.
