I think taxpayer money would be MUCH better spent impeaching Bunkerboy a third and fourth time in the same week than enriching anti-American billionaires that AREN'T EVEN AMERICANS because they possess no tax returns. Because our electors are craven cowards, it can be secret even!

I also keep thinking how his eyes lit up when Zalensky said Ukraine can’t have elections during the war. Trump commented about that. Do you think that is in the little mind for the 2026 elections? Just a thought.

Well he's dumb enough to think so but there's a world of difference between not being able to hold elections because your country has been invaded and occupied and the populace is being bombed day and night and saying you're not able to hold elections when your military is out invading another country and all is peace and quiet at home.

Sure, but Trump does not care about that difference. He is ready to declare an emergency at the word "boo!" He was claiming that Portland, OR was on fire, because he was watching scenes from 5 years ago when there were riots. To him, everything is an emergency. He has been scolded for that by courts, but he doesn't care what courts say anyway.

The U.S. government itself has no ownership claim over Venezuelan oil fields.

The only legitimate claims are:

• Corporate arbitration claims from ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, etc.

• These are handled through international courts, not military pressure

How can America own anything naturally produced in another country?!? America can’t, doesn’t, never did, never will! This is blatant murder to intimidate so tRump can steal their oil! Shameful at best! Why Democrats refuse to obey our Constitution and initiate Article 2 Section 4 which directs that We The People arrest, prosecute, and execute ALL of them!! Time for a righteous Democratic Coup! Let’s Gooo!!!

War always = Oil and/or Land or Mineral rights. Will our ships help Ukraine?? Will they help Gaza? Will they help Israel? No they will only help His ego. I'm not saying we do not need good ships and things but he always has a hidden agenda for everything sadly. I pray for our soldiers who have to do what they are told. Legal or non legal. 🙏

Trump doesn't want to TAKE BACK the oil, even though that's what he said. What he wants is to restrict the production of oil in order to prop up the global price. And force the Venezuelan leader out so that Trump can install a puppet government that is more to his liking.

When Lethal Pete blamed "the fog of war" for pretending to not see the survivors of his boat strike, it was clear he had not idea what he was talking about. When Clausewitz coined the phrase, he was not talking about fog on a battlefield or smoke on the water but rather the unforseen adverse consequences of any military undertaking (what Barbara Tuchman called The March of Folly).

In The Art of War, Sun Tzu warned that the greatest mistake a military commander can make is to not know the enemy (I wrote about this 6 weeks ago in the post below). The arrogance and ignorance of Trump and Hegseth, if left unchecked, will almost certainly transmogrify what they promise will be a cheap and easy oil grab into Vietnam 2.0.

Long after the Trump name has been removed from The Kennedy Center, long after his gold-plated gewgaws have been removed from the oval office, the only remaining DC memorial to Trump might end up being another long black wall with the names of those killed in his unnecessary and unwinnable war.

"he alone would keep the United States out of endless overseas conflicts"

FDR campaigned the same way prior to WWII. He also played Churchill like Zelenski withholding military supplies. When he did release support it was called "Lend/Lease, not for free". We know how that ended.

Trump like Chamberlain falsely believes Peace at Any Price" works. It does not and the cost is far higher than standing up to Russia now. Putin looks at the US as weak under Trump, despite the chest thumping by Tarzan Hegseth.

I had thought this was totally about oil, but now that doesn't make sense. Not only is our crude oil production at its highest ever, DJT has been working hard to destroy all legislation & regulations trying to minimize destruction of our environment, he's opened up our oceans and public lands for increased drilling and destruction of our environment, thereby increasing oil & gas production even further! And what will that do?.......drive down the price of oil even further! Adding Venezuela.'s production will give him & his billionaire pals in further control of the world market so they can control prices & charge whatever they want. Why else would he fight the electric automobile market , despite his pal Elon Musk🤨 THIS IS ABOUT POWER! Control the majority of the world's oil, you control the world ( he thinks🤨)

Trump is keeping up the American tradition of stealing oil from other countries. It looks like Trump’s plan is a little more complicated than just stealing oil. There is a Russian connection and Trump’s boyfriend Vladimir is in a panic because Ukraine is destroying Russian refineries and Russian drilling platforms.

Trump is probably trying to give his boyfriend Vladimir a foot hold in the western hemisphere.

I understood that if America is at war, all voting would be suspended. Isn’t that enough of a reason to attack Venezuela? No voting means Trump will never be voted out.

Expand full comment
Russ's avatar

NO Not suspended

During World War II, presidential elections were not suspended. The U.S. held its presidential election on November 7, 1944, despite the ongoing conflict. This election was held as scheduled, and there is no historical precedent for suspending presidential elections during wartime. The U.S. has a strong precedent against election suspension, and any attempts to alter the established election calendar would face substantial constitutional hurdles.

This should not be applied to Ukraine as that country is under constant attack. Aside from Pearl Harbor, the US (with minor sabotage) was not under similar threat.

Trump puffing about the lack of election in Ukraine is a joke. Russia does not have meaningful elections. Their elections have pre-determined winners and losers go to the gulag.

Elections in time of war have never been postponed, cancelled or not held at all, ever. Ukraine has it written in their Constitution, that, no elections during times of war. Our constitution says no such thing. We will vote.
