Trump threatens to STRIP Rosie O’Donnell’s citizenship
Trump posts about taking away Rosie’s citizenship in a chilling authoritarian outburst targeting political enemies
Donald Trump is once again targeting Rosie O’Donnell—this time with an outright authoritarian threat to strip her of U.S. citizenship. In a Truth Social post, Trump claimed O’Donnell is “not in the best interests of our great country” and said he is “giving serious consideration” to revoking her citizenship. Setting aside the fact that this is legally impossible—O’Donnell was born in the U.S. and citizenship isn’t revoked over personal grudges—the bigger issue is the dictatorial posture Trump is embracing. The idea that a president could punish political critics by declaring them un-American or unworthy of citizenship is straight out of the authoritarian playbook.
This isn't a one-off meltdown—it’s part of a years-long obsession Trump has had with Rosie O’Donnell that stretches back to at least 2007, when she publicly criticized him. But more importantly, this is a dangerous escalation of Trump's rhetoric: he’s a convicted felon running for president again, now openly fantasizing about wielding power to punish critics and rewrite the rules of citizenship. Today it's Rosie; tomorrow, it could be journalists, political opponents, or anyone who steps out of line. And the worst part? His supporters aren’t flinching—they’re cheering.
