I am a novice to Substack, but I wanted to share some thoughts with anyone that comes across and reads this note.
Recently, I’ve been listening to Matthew in the Holy Bible app (I will note, I am not religious). And I have to admit it has been making me sick to my stomach. It’s not the teachings of the Bible or any religion that deeply disturbs me, but how humanity turns religion into a weapon. This is why I stopped going to church when I was younger, b/c I regularly witnessed people that told me they took their belief in god and teachings seriously, yet were the biggest hypocrites I had ever met in my life. So I could not be around these people.
Side note: I consider myself Agnostic and do not affiliate myself with any political party.
With that said, I am left deeply disturbed that people I care about support this administration. And since the war has started in Iran it is becoming even harder to feel connected to anyone that continues to make excuses for this administration.
If you voted for Trump, still support him and consider yourself religious, I would like to suggest reading, or listening to the Bible again (such as the teachings of Matthew - all of it). While doing so, please contemplate the teachings in the Bible and reflect how Trump and this administration not only speak to people, but treat people and their behavior.
These people are predators. And I mean that in every sense. They are the opposite of the teachings in the Bible. They do not represent the Bible and they do not represent the Republican Party. They first hijacked the Republican Party and they have now fully hijacked Christianity and turned it into a full blown white supremacy cult.
Loyalty to a person’s religion or political party is not to be confused with morals and ethics. We are in a global crisis and humanity is suffering b/c people are confusing the two; and/or simply do not have genuine morals and ethics.

I have not found a solution yet, but I am still trying. And most importantly, while this administration leans into cruelty, I make it my mission to lean into kindness. We must remind the world that compassion for one another exists and we are out here fighting the good fight, peacefully. ☮️

Weird. Just weird. When I was a kid, the church I attended would read the Presidential Proclamation for Easter during the service. Did any white Christian Nationalist churches pick this one up? I sure hope so.

I never would have thought America would use religion as justification for a war. This makes us no better than Iran or Russia who both misuse religion to justify their terror. God is watching.
While I believe there is justification for taking Iran down. It should not be done using the veil of Christianity. I remind all this is the middle of Islam who well remember the Crusades. Lets not create more enemies than we have.
I also fear our military may well be lured into a nuclear trap if we invade Iran on the ground. We do not know what they have and they are suicidal enough to let us mass our forces so they can take us out with one big bang. Do not ignore their martyr complex to sacrifice themselves while destroying a good piece of our military at the same time.
