Kevin Hassett, Director of the National Economic Council, defended President Trump’s baseless claim that the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) manipulated jobs data to favor Democrats. Hassett confused GDP statistics with employment figures and suggested political bias influenced the BLS reports, despite these data being based on large, nonpartisan surveys regularly revised through standard statistical methods.
In a recent CNBC interview, President Trump used racist and xenophobic tropes to frame a decline in foreign-born workers as positive, implying native-born Americans benefit from immigrant job losses. Trump also employed racist stereotypes about Black Americans in “inner cities,” suggesting they are unwilling to work in farming.
Polls from UMass and others show Trump’s approval sinking to historic lows, with 58% disapproving his presidency across issues like inflation, immigration, and disaster response. His broad tariff policies have raised costs for businesses and consumers, fueling inflation. Despite hardline immigration stances, public opinion favors pathways to citizenship, and Trump’s aggressive rhetoric risks alienating voters further.
The Epstein scandal continues to haunt Trump’s administration after Ghislaine Maxwell’s controversial transfer to a minimum-security prison, a move requiring special approval. Public skepticism runs high, with 61% disapproving Trump’s handling of the case, including nearly half of Republicans, as delays in releasing documents fuel demands for transparency.
Meanwhile, Democrats struggle with low approval, but candidates like Zohran Mamdani are gaining traction with a focused message on affordability—addressing housing, groceries, and transportation costs. Despite fears about tax flight, research shows wealthy individuals rarely relocate over tax increases.
Finally, a Washington Post investigation reveals FEMA staff have been reassigned to assist ICE deportations, weakening disaster preparedness during hurricane season. Former officials warn this undermines response capacity amid ongoing emergencies. The Trump administration has delayed disaster aid and cut FEMA funding, raising concerns that politicization may cost lives in the months ahead.
On today’s bonus show:
Trump falsely claims to be the only president besides Washington to donate his salary while focusing on costly White House renovations. Meanwhile, Health Secretary RFK Jr. canceled nearly $500 million in mRNA vaccine funding, risking future pandemic preparedness by cutting critical research support.

I would love to write the words that describe how I feel about that Orange Mob Boss, however, it would not be printed. He is beyond despicable and so are the rest of those revolting people who surround him.
