I would give anything to hear a female reporter say back to him " In order to insult me, I must first value your opinion of me, I do not, so let's be adults and address the policy questions being asked".
You know that the sir part is a soft spot for Donald, the way he always incudes it when quoting an imaginary person who worships the ground he walks on.
Also you know the imaginary person saying "sir" to Donald wouldn't be a MAGAt [They lack the civility and fine manners which people born into great wealth are accustomed to.].
I got cut off in mid sentence. I think that the reporters must be given rules before the Q & A specifying that if they speak out of order they will be punished.
How about some rules for the president, John? He (or she) is not allowed to interrupt or talk over them. He/she is not allowed to insult them with ugly names (Quiet piggy) or call for their dismissal or loss of license for their employer simply because he/she feels insecure or intimidated by policy questions.
In other words, civility and behavior becoming the office of the presidency. Or he/she WILL BE PUNISHED.🙄
I think the same thing, John, or that they'd lose their jobs because they (their station or newspaper) would no longer be allowed back in the press pool. :(
Every reporter has been flawlessly polite to Trump. They *do* wait their turn plus they never interrupt his rambles. Trump never has issues with actual manners; it is always fury towards "the nerve" they have in asking questions he doesn't want to answer.
I wish reporters male or female will simply tell Trump to stop lying. You have to remember that most news is corporate run and corporate tends to have a cozy crooked relationship with Republicans and some Democrats. I would just look at Trump and say to him, “Donald, shut your lie hole.“
Being told off and shamed would be ultimate humiliation for such a narcissist. He'd think he was being unfairly crucified. That's how I hear their logic works.
It is ironic that a 2 digit IQ treasonous pedophile is questioning and attempting to belittle others for their “low IQ”! His “projection” is getting more and more obvious…
Yes, the closer he gets to his end, be it death or impeachment for treason, the more chaotic and violent his behavior will get! And there is no one to stop him from launching nukes in this administration, as there was the last!
Yes, and the nuke potential is what terrifies me the most. I hope whoever put that button in his control (if that's what they do, obviously I don't know!), I hope experts (or whoever) can stop the Dump from actually pressing it--and having it work. Thanks for your reply!
I do not understand the inability to see the Donald for what he is; a spoiled 10 year old child that was never told “no”, and has never had any real consequences for his felonious actions, that is living in an 80 year old obese pedophiles body, who is currently dying of congestive heart failure! You could not sell this story for a TV movie! It seems beyond any possible reality!!! God (if there is one) help us!!!
The idea of a US president launching nukes is the very "unbelievable" thing which the satirical 1960' British classic "Dr Stragelove" warned us about.
The movie was a disturbing fantasy. At the end the B-52 bomber commander puts on his cowboy hat and straddles the bomb, pretending he's in a rodeo all the way down.
The movie also forecasted Q-Anon, as when a member of the president's cabinet swore that fluoride in municipal water was intended to cause derangement.
Have you ever read the Steven King novel The Dead Zone, or watched the movie with Christopher Walken and Martin Sheen? The megalomaniac president wants to set off nukes and, even though he has people around him who have worked out a diplomatic peace deal, he launches the missiles anyway. I’m just not sure where he’d want to send the bombs, not Moscow unless he becomes useless to Putin and Putin releases whatever kompromat he has on Donny.
Sorry, I know I sound like I am contradicting my first message regarding the importance of the movie and the temptation of poor leaders to make harmful decisions. But I stand by everything I've said so far. Dr Strangelove was a cautionary tale of world leaders who have too much power and don't fully comprehend (or don't care) about the terrible damage resulting from their decisions in war. Monsters like Trump and Hegseth certainly fit that description... but still, I think we can trust that even they won't go so far as to use nukes.
Dr Strangelove was a warning, certainly, but it's also true that in those days nuclear weapons weren't widely known to be as unbelievably devastating and therefore unforgivable the way they are known today. Back then they were just "really, really big bombs". Back then it wasn't known that they not only damage th blast zone, but cause horrific secondary effects in a far larger surrounding area to all living things, plus it leaves lingering radiation behind also horrible to life which lasts for decades.
So while many during the 1960's still claimed that such a devastating bomb was acceptable as a weapon of war in those days, NO ONE believes that today... absolutely no one.
I am certain that any nation today which actually resorts to atomic weapons, even if it is about to be conquered and its people reduced to 2nd class citizens, will nevertheless be seen as a pariah state and all those found responsible for the decision considered the worst sort of war criminals. So choosing to use nukes is more self destructive than even a death wish (And Donald Trump is not known for self harm or even personal sacrifices.).
Winston Churchill expressed a complex yet enduring admiration for the United States, famously stating, "Americans can always be trusted to do the right thing, once all other possibilities have been exhausted."
We are experimenting with the "other possibilities" right now. We are not perfect either. Every now and then we have to test the waters of invincibility.
Unfortunately we seem to be sitting on rock bottom. The silver lining here is that we have no where else to go but up.
The citizens of UK grew tired of Winston Churchill after the war. Like Trump, he found Americans gullible enough to still pay him to give meaningless speeches.
Historians all seem to agree that's true for Grant... .but Eisenhower? I consider him to be the best republican president after Lincoln in terms of integrity and his legacy. Also it was Eisenhower who, at the end of his term, prophetically warned us with the famous line "Beware the military industrial complex".
A bit on the young side when Ike was President, but my dad, also a WWII soldier had this to say about Ike. Whenever things got tough, Ike was on the golf course. You know any other president that did that?
OK, apologies to the memory of your late father, but he was being very unfair to president Eisenhower:
"Dwight D. Eisenhower was indeed an avid golfer, but historical accounts suggest he viewed the sport as a necessary source of relaxation and a strategic venue for informal discussions, rather than an escape from duty [1]. He often played golf to manage the immense stress of the presidency and to stay physically healthy, acting on doctor's advice following his 1955 heart attack [1].
Biographers and historians note that Eisenhower frequently used the golf course as an informal setting to discuss policies, foster relationships with world leaders and congressional members, and clear his mind to tackle complex issues more effectively"
[One thing Trump doesn't do is allow even the slightest bit of work to distract from his cheating at golf.]
When the allies launched D-Day in Normandy, Ike privately said [This is not an exact quote] "No way am I going to allow gung-ho Patton to charge the tanks to their destruction within the confines of the beaches."
A large part of our problem is that we relied on “norms” of behavior instead of codifying restrictions into the constitution. That mostly worked for over 200 years.
The founders never thought the electorate would vote for a hugely corrupt person like trump and thought that the checks and balances written into the constitution would be enough. I doubt they could have envisioned a scenario with a blatantly corrupt, sociopathic, narcissistic president, a SCOTUS ready to back him and twist the words of the constitution backwards, and a cowed compliant congress.
Thomas Jefferson thought the constitution would be rewritten and amended multiple times. I don’t think any of the founders expected that their words would be parsed for what they meant in the 18th century, and they thought the presidency would be the weakest of the three branches, not the travesty of the unitary executive nonsense we have now.
Remember when Hillary Clinton said that there was a vast right wing conspiracy? The right wing owned media had a field day ridiculing her as "silly" and "paranoid". Today we are seeing proof that she was correct.
Yes, agreed he is really outrageous to and with most women. I must say his treatment of Zelinsky during the first visit to the White House was unprecedented and blatantly rude. So his inflated ego is pretty much running the show. Why he remains in office is seriously puzzling.
The GOP worships him with obeisance because they know that without him they would be nothing. Several GOP members of Congress are resigning rather than face the mid-terms. If only they would ALL quit; they don't do anything as it is.
With him they are nothing as well. All just little people voting as they are told.
There are about 300 Repubs in Congress. How is that the most egotistical selfish-absorbed arrogant runts on the planet are scared of one little guy? What deal has he made that all cannot say no? Even party over country does not explain that kind of subservience.
Yeah. That many guys should be able to confront him in his gold-furbished men's room and treat him to a swirly. Of course, the Secret Service might be a problem.
As if Congress was not gutless enough, how is it that he has also cowered the titans of industry? Tariffs are gutting American industry. Yet they still give to his ballroom and attend his events. The screaming clue is the massive divide between Main Street and Wall Street. Is it all about money? I think it is. None of the titans ever served in the military, so it is not about patriotism. Wall Street is going crazy over AI which spells doom to employment. If most are unemployed who is going to buy what they produce?
My best guess is that all the fake christians (identified by having to show their dangly cross to the world - every day) are using the Orange 💩 to usher in the End Times.
They have salivated for it for decades, but have never found someone who they can use...the way they can use the Orange 💩.
And so, here we are. Glad I'm a retired old-timer with no grandchildren.
We have a manchild running the nation into the ground and those in power to stop it do not. So much for the power of democracy. We get what the majority vote for regardless of the consequences. Even when the mistake has become abundantly apparent, they continue to sleepwalk. So much for Making America Great.
The approved remedy is impeachment and conviction. It's been tried twice, without success. More troubling is the slavish worship of Donald as if he is some kind of ubermensch or messenger of God. "No man is above the law" is not just an expression, it is a formula for better government. I don't know what remedy there is for the chickens in the GOP.
The ultimate remedy is to strip republicans not only of majority, but below 40% in both houses. They have demonstrated repeatedly that all "dissenters" *will* fall in line to prevent the necessary 60% from removing any republican (not just Trump) from power.
Yes, I don't get it either. His problems with women have been aired for a long time, but even his wife dismisses it as "Locker room talk." Trump gets a free pass with everything he does or says. This is how bullies grow up to be bigger bullies: no one stands in his way or pushes back, not even the media. With Trump, we have an example of how toxic this pattern becomes, given enough time to develop.
If you do not put out little fires, what happens? They become bigger fires, too big to fight.
In political talk, rule by chaos and stay ahead creating more... leading the charge, gets what he wants. Courts are too slow to react. After 3 challenges to his actions, the SC needs to have a NANNY/special master so everything he does has to be reviewed for legal sufficiency BEFORE it goes into effect. Otherwise congress is just chasing the fire truck.
To me, DJT is "crazy like a fox" rather than suffering from dementia. Mistreating Jew Zelensky and saying "quiet, piggy" to a woman reporter pleases bigoted MAGAts to no end.
As for Donald falling asleep during discussion of complex topics, that's to be expected from someone who graduated from college without learning to read. Yes I see some decline in his vigor, but again, he knows what works for him.
Absolutely right, why continue to get pummeled? Do they enjoy the abuse just for the sake of a cheap BS meaningless comment? The best fumigation is silence.
Get off AF1, get out of DC. Go where the real damage is occurring and report that.

Iʻm waiting for the time when he takes a swing at one of them, e.g. on Air Force One when they are crammed into close quarters. As his Alzheimers progresses heʻll continue to lose impulse control.
"Physical aggression, such as pushing, hitting, or throwing objects, can and does occur in some individuals with Alzheimer's, making safety a priority for caregivers."
- I think we can all agree that the patient by that point is unable to comprehend what others are saying, so it won't be in response to a reporter's question. If and when DJT's condition gets that bad, the vast personal paid to insure the president's safety will prevent potential crises like that from occurring.
Powerful connection between personal insecurity and strongman admiration. The four-step escalation pattern you mapped out(question, interrupt, attack, rage) isn't just interpersonal drama, its a window into how someone processes percieved threats to authority. What really landed for me is the dictator attraction link, because it shows this isn't contained to press briefings but bleeds into geopolitics when someone who needs submission attracts to rulers who demand it. The Obama contrast works well not because he was perfect but because a normative baseline matters when you're trying to show how far off someone is.
There are either no real reporters in the US or the president’s reporters are hand picked and cowed. I think that it’s a combination of both. I don’t understand why a country like the USA does not have known media (big media) that won’t tell the truth about trump. They should know that they can’t be sued for telling the truth, or for opinions that are based on facts.
Actually in the USA one of our biggest industries is lawyers. You can sue anyone over anything. Just the threat of a lawsuit can be a shakedown to get what you want. A favorite Trump trick.
Media, Hollywood and Lawyers appear to be ducking their use of what is left of freedom of speech. Not sure why as they have as more lawyers and more money than Trump. Beats me what he has over them.
Because of empire-building among media companies, they are all afraid of creating controversy that may prevent their merger and takeover activities. In short, they have become too big to be independent or effective. That's why we like smaller media outlets like MtN and David Pakman--they're focused on getting us the news we need.
You're right - trump's moronic insults come out of absolute insecurity. It reminds me of an instance when my daughter was in junior high. Her feelings were hurt because a girl called her a bitch for no apparent reason. I told her that any girl who calls another by such names is exactly what she is. The same applies to trump- every insult he slings is a description of himself.
I would give anything to hear a female reporter say back to him " In order to insult me, I must first value your opinion of me, I do not, so let's be adults and address the policy questions being asked".
I’d settle for “You’re a fake president”. And no one, ever, anywhere should call him “sir”. Ever.
I always think that a snippy reply from a woman reporter is in order, but they don’t do it. I think that the reporters
I got cut off in mid sentence. I think that the reporters must be given rules before the Q & A specifying that if they speak out of order they will be punished.

That is now a "real president" would act Marko. However, we don't have a real president at this time. Only a pedoprez.
Nailed it! Trump is just not a secure person. Women are purely for his personal enjoyment or subjugation.
You are totally right. It is disgusting to see.
I wish reporters male or female will simply tell Trump to stop lying. You have to remember that most news is corporate run and corporate tends to have a cozy crooked relationship with Republicans and some Democrats. I would just look at Trump and say to him, “Donald, shut your lie hole.“

I’m quite familiar with the Kubrick classic, and it was more foretelling and real than given credit…
Have you ever read the Steven King novel The Dead Zone, or watched the movie with Christopher Walken and Martin Sheen? The megalomaniac president wants to set off nukes and, even though he has people around him who have worked out a diplomatic peace deal, he launches the missiles anyway. He calls them "dumb", and then "piggy".
If we in Australia had a prime minister like him, he'd be replaced within weeks by his own party.
Democracy USA style has failed - USA needs a new model.
USA lives with a corrupted, antiquated, and weak political model.

The citizens of UK grew tired of Winston Churchill after the war. Like Trump, he found Americans gullible enough to still pay him to give meaningless speeches.
Those who lead us to victory in war, do not always make good leaders in peace. Same for Eisenhower and US Grant in the USA.
Historians all seem to agree that's true for Grant... .but Eisenhower? I consider him to be the best republican president after Lincoln in terms of integrity and his legacy. Also it was Eisenhower who, at the end of his term, prophetically warned us with the famous line "Beware the military industrial complex".

[One thing Trump doesn't do is allow even the slightest bit of work to distract from his cheating at golf.]
Ike cared about people, had extraordinary high integrity, and was a very wise and capable general (smarter even than Patton).
The one thing Ike had in common with Donald Trump is that both have ADHD. They are polar opposites in every other sense.
When the allies launched D-Day in Normandy, Ike privately said [This is not an exact quote] "No way am I going to allow gung-ho Patton to charge the tanks to their destruction within the confines of the beaches."
And exactly what is this "model" that will protect us from uninformed voters?
A large part of our problem is that we relied on “norms” of behavior instead of codifying restrictions into the constitution. That mostly worked for over 200 years.

Maybe he is referring to the British Liz Truss model?
USA also is experiencing the highest failure rate of new car engines. We can add him to the list of recalls.
Fortunately the Prime Minister of Canada has a PHD in economics and is not interested in trump.
Bullying results from weakness, not from strength.
Yes, agreed he is really outrageous to and with most women. I must say his treatment of Zelinsky during the first visit to the White House was unprecedented and blatantly rude. So his inflated ego is pretty much running the show. Why he remains in office is seriously puzzling.

MAGAts are so depraved that they think the mistreatment Trump and Vance gave Zelinsky is "America first".

Good luck 🌎🌍🌏🥺😢😥
His dad did carry dementia, he gave him that.
It's getting annoying how I write comments about these topics, why trump can't react properly to any women that he comes across.
Then a week later, here's this article.
It happened with his dementia I wrote about too 😣 nobody believed me for months.
We have a manchild running the nation into the ground and those in power to stop it do not. So much for the power of democracy. We get what the majority vote for regardless of the consequences.

He's already lost impulse control. The biggest problem with that is it's only getting worse and worse.
And if the Epstein files are ever released hopefully a women will bring him down.

Pretty well signs up tRumps miserable personality.
You got it, David! 100% correct!
Thank you, David. I'll never understand why none of the reporters, whether female or male, ever stands up to Trump or for each other.
It's behavior modeled in the playgrounds of America.
"With the right, it's all projection and confession."
- Trump is consistent with all other republicans since the nightmare of Ronald Reagan
