Trump Demands FBI Raid Affidavit Get Released, Judge Calls His Bluff
Donald Trump wants the full unredacted affidavit that led to the search warrant for his Mar-a-Lago home to be released to the public. Trump believes the information coming out will vindicate him, or that if there’s a refusal to release it, it will make the investigation look like a partisan witch hunt. However, the judge in the case, Bruce Reinhart, is calling Trump’s bluff, and is seemingly open to releasing the affidavit with redactions given the public interest in the matter. The Trump team wants the entire thing released without redactions, since as we know they have no respect for keeping sensitive information secret and protecting the identities of people. The request could end up backfiring tremendously on the former president, as it could end up providing the public with more evidence that he mishandled classified documents. It could also debunk Trump’s claim that he had a good relationship with DOJ and FBI officials and was cooperating fully with the probe. Trump would probably be better served to keep his mouth shut and let the investigation run its course, however he’s proven himself incapable over the years of being able to do that.
Trump Calls McConnell a "Broken Down Hack," His Wife "Crazy"
Donald Trump attacked Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and his wife former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao on Truth Social over McConnell’s recent comments about how Republicans are losing some key Senate races because of poor “candidate quality.” The Kentucky Republican was seemingly referring to people like Herschel Walker, Mehmet Oz, and Ron Johnson, who are all backed by the former president. Trump said on his social media platform, “Why do Republicans Senators allow a broken down hack politician, Mitch McConnell, to openly disparage hard working Republican candidates for the United States Senate. This is such an affront to honor and to leadership. He should spend more time (and money!) helping them get elected, and less time helping his crazy wife and family get rich on China!” Trump and McConnell have never had a great relationship and it’s been especially bad ever since the January 6th Capitol riots. Maybe now that Trump has attacked his wife for being “crazy,” Mitch will completely turn on the ex-president, or maybe he’ll give him a pass for the infraction like Ted Cruz did.

Fox Host Sends Trump a Message: Stop Inciting Violence Against FBI
Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy expressed concern about Donald Trump’s badmouthing of FBI agents, seeming to realize that it could put law enforcement officers in harms way. But then he went on to suggest people’s ire should be directed at the Justice Department and Attorney General Merrick Garland instead. Doocy said, “we just know that right now, given the fact that there is a suggestion that there are a lot of online, very specific apparently, very specific threats against very specific agents at the FBI and what not, it would be great for everybody to tamp down the rhetoric against the FBI, because the FBI simply was doing what the DOJ asked them to do. The Attorney General is the boss of the guy at the FBI, of all the people at the FBI.” Doocy seems to recognize that Trump is stoking up anger and could potentially cause people to commit violence. It’s just curious why he wouldn’t argue for people to tamp down the rhetoric against government officials altogether rather that just singling out the FBI.

IRS Agents Getting Hired, Right Wingers Explode
Republicans are losing their minds over the Biden administration’s plan to hire 87,000 new IRS agents to beef up tax enforcement following the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act. Some of these right-wingers, like Fox’s Brian Kilmeade, are suggesting that the IRS officials will go after everyday middle-class Americans and will be armed while they do it. Conservatives are also lumping the IRS hires in with the story about the FBI raid on Donald Trump’s home, even though the two things have nothing to do with one another. Florida Senator Marco Rubio said about the new agents, “after today’s raid on Mar A Lago, what do you think the left plans to use those 87,000 new IRS agents for?” Former Trump administration official Rick Grenell tweeted, “The FBI raids Trump’s house and the Democrats vote to add 87,000 new IRS agents to go after Americans. Wake up, America.” And Indiana Congressman Jim Banks said “if the FBI can raid the home of a former US President, imagine what 87,000 more IRS agents will do to you.” The Treasury Department has said the new agents will chiefly be focused on people making over $400,000 a year, which makes sense given the potential amounts they’ll be able to recover in back taxes are a lot more than they would be from going after middle class earners.
