I think DOGE (Musk) accomplished exactly what it set out to do ... gut agencies that were investigating Musk companies or had cases against Musk. It also got rid of consumer protections and rules about what could & couldn't be done virtually which helped Musk with his wanting to do online financial crap with the public. He also got rid of oversight and checks & balance people/agencies PLUs got himself some sweet government contracts to boot ...... he made it more efficient for him and Trump

Exactly. The grift is so obvious to anyone using their brains. But otherwise smart people are over there believing Elon Musk Talks To Jesus AI videos (the same guy who goes on Rogan chortling about white power and took a chainsaw to USAID with current death toll 600,000) and Trump “fundraiser” emails asking for donations to help him “fight, fight, fight” (the same guy already using his presidential role to get enriched by billions in jets, crypto money and foreign real estate deals as gifts for pardons, tariff reduction, and any variety of favoritism). Some people’s need to believe in the hierarchy is stronger than any facts or appeals to morality.

Under-educated people need a "Dear Leader" to get all the cues from. It's just simple human nature to glom onto a Messiah figure . . . even if they have failed at EVERY. SINGLE. THING they have EVER done in nearly 80 years! 😂

It’s just like having an excessive belief in religious fairytales. All religious dogma is based on fairytales. These brainwashed people would rather die than admit that, and that’s what Trump and idiots like him count on.

The reason for non-partisan Inspector Generals is to be placed within government to monitor and prevent waste, fraud and abuse. By firing and removing them, this administration paved the way for DOGE to get inside our government and harvest our information. That was the purpose. Scary for us, and hopefully, accountability for them invading our private data.

Commenting on how inefficient the DOGE was, is focusing on the wrong thing.

The DOGE was very successful, if we look at what was actually its purpose and what it accomplished!

It created a way for Trump to repay Musk for his help in getting him elected.

Musk's payback was to be able to eliminate all the governmental oversight of him and his operations and make money in the process.

But the purpose was to harvest everyone’s real identities: our names, addresses, social security numbers and banking information. The purpose of AI data centers is to pattern match our real identities with our “anonymous” digital footprints and social media profiles.

Our only hope is that this regime expires before the process is complete, because Nixonian rat-fucking, which is too cost-prohibitive for human “not-crooks” to perform at scale, will be completely automated by AI.

The cost of (say) revealing your political opponent’s PornHub browsing history is about to be reduced to a few watt-seconds of electricity, for whoever controls the data centers.

What I found so disturbing was unvetted, clueless snot nose kids doing the checking. Not sure if they got to the nukes or national secrets.

Out of this we need to establish guardrail rules that prevent unfettered access to govt data. We do this by having major agencies like DOJ/CIA/NSA/FED independent and not under the thumb of the president. Paramount should be IRS so T and his goons do not use it for selective punishment. Just the threat of tax evasion is damaging to reputations even if it proves false. A new administration should not be able to come in and clean house on FBI agents who were investigating them. Hands off military and civil service and inspectors general.

You are forgetting all of the investigations into Musk companies, and pending regulations of Musk companies, that DOGE eliminated, greatly benefiting Musk and to the detriment United States. You are forgetting all of the exposure of personal information by DOGE, and exposure of classified information to our enemies. DOGE should be investigated and there should be prosecutions as a result of the investigations if necessary. It is more than just fiscal waste.

Find ways to stop holding folks accountable for their bad behaviors is what this regime's goal is. Karma always balances. Would not like the shoes they are walking in. Greed eats itself. We the People are who keeps this Democracy alive by living it.

Musk never 'made' anything, he is just a salesman. Musk has zilch skills at management and the only times the companies do well is when he does not interfere with them.

Actually, I count that as something that was a good thing. In technology development you want to lower the pain level for each successive iteration. In other words, allow your developers to try different things. The science and math are not as clear as people would think when dealing with such a very complex system acting under extreme stress as a rocket engine, let alone many of them, blasting through the atmosphere. I only credit Musk with having insufficient interest to interfere in the work the engineers were doing, and signing the checks.

Republicans have run for so many decades about how 'the government is the problem', and when not in absolute control always ran as 'the opposition' to Democrats (who for all their problems actually did want to govern) which made the government less than efficient, so that when they actually had all the levers of power, they don't actually have any skills in their group for how to govern.

On top of that, Trump and Musk had 'hit lists' of governmental functions they wanted removed, so they fired them. On top of all the main functions of government these billionaires had no use for were also oversight functions that would catch fraud and abuse in government, and block outright disregard for the laws, because that was Trump's goal in the first place.

DOGE had done it's job. It was NEVER about improving the function of government, it was about removing expenses, illegally, so they could give even bigger tax cuts to themselves and their rich friends, and remove any oversight of their intended illegal actions. Damage done, nothing else to do. Politically DOGE had become a 'bad brand', so sure, kill it. Besides there were a lot of useful 'loyalists' in DOGE that could be used elsewhere, because for 'some reason' finding useful loyalists seems to be something they are having a real hard time doing.

We have not seen the end of this. I predict there will be massive lawsuits for improper dismissal and discrimination. Have you noticed the high number of high ranking military women and blacks that have been dismissed without cause? Transgenders close to retirement need to be re-instated to retirement eligible.
