Trump’s poll numbers have hit rock bottom since indictment
Recent polls show Donald Trump’s approval rating is collapsing among independents, a key voting bloc in US elections. While Trump's support remains strong within the Republican Party, polls from ABC News/Ipsos and CNN indicate that a majority of independents believe Trump should have been charged with a crime and that he intentionally did something illegal. The ABC poll shows that Trump's approval rating among independents has dropped four points, from 29% to 25%, since the indictment. The CNN poll shows that 62% of independents approve of the indictment. The drop in approval ratings among independents is particularly concerning for Trump since it suggests he can easily win the primary but that he’s likely to lose again in the general. Despite some Republicans saying that the indictment has made them more likely to vote for Trump, it appears that these are previous Trump voters whom he’s won back, rather than new supporters.
Jim Jordan gets HUMILIATED by New York prosecutor charging Trump
The Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Jim Jordan, has announced that he will be taking his committee on a field trip to New York City to hold a field hearing on crime rates in the city. This move is being criticized by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office, which has stated that if Jordan truly cared about public safety, he could simply go to his own home state of Ohio, where crime rates are actually higher than in New York City. The crime rate in Columbus, Ohio, for example, is almost three times the murder rate in New York City. The media has also been criticized for focusing too much on the crime rate in blue states while ignoring higher crime rates in red states. For example, while property crime in New York City has increased, the murder and violent crime rates have actually decreased, whereas Florida has seen an increase in violent crime. The top 25 highest crime rates in the country are mostly in red states, which are run by Republicans, but this is not a narrative that the media tends to cover.

Tennessee expulsion backfires on Republicans, Justin Jones reinstated
Justin Jones, a Democrat who was expelled from the Republican-controlled Tennessee legislature just days ago for protesting in favor of gun reform, has been reinstated as a state representative. After being sworn back into the Tennessee House of Representatives on Monday, Jones made it clear that he would continue to call for common sense gun legislation, saying, “The first thing I do when I walk into this building as a representative is to continue that call for common sense gun legislation.” Jones and another Democrat, Justin Pierson, were forced out of the legislature last week after a protest on the chamber floor spurred by the mass shooting last month at a Nashville Christian school that left six people dead. However, the Nashville Metropolitan Council voted 36 to 0 on Monday to re-appoint Jones to the House of Representatives, putting him back into his previously held position. Jones' reinstatement is seen as a complete failure on the part of the Republican Party in Tennessee, which expelled him in violation of the decorum rules and sparked a controversy that has only drawn more attention to their inaction on important issues such as gun safety.
From yesterday’s show:
Charlie Kirk: Gun violence is "worth it"
In a recent clip, right-wing media personality Charlie Kirk spoke about his stance on gun violence and said that it’s “worth it” to preserve the Second Amendment. Kirk acknowledged that having an armed citizenry comes at a price, but argued that the benefits of gun ownership and the Second Amendment outweigh the cost of gun deaths. He pointed out that driving also comes at a cost of 50,000 deaths per year, but people still choose to drive because of the benefits it provides. However, what Kirk failed to mention is how driving is heavily regulated and requires licensing, registration, and insurance. But Kirk is not in favor of heavily regulating guns as we do with cars, so the comparison does not stand up. Instead, he suggests having armed guards in schools, baseball games, airports, and banks to prevent shootings. To right-wingers, more guns in more places are always the answer and it seems like no mass shooting is going to convince them otherwise.
