Outrageous Right-Wing Takes on Tyre Nichols and Policing in America
Charlie Kirk and Heather MacDonald had a conversation this week in response to the police killing of Tyre Nichols, and the two went down a racist and nonsensical direction. Kirk attempted to respond to the point progressives often make about there being nominally more crime in black neighborhoods because police are more likely to patrol black neighborhoods. He said, “for years I've been told by activists that blacks commit — they don't commit more crimes. But the reason they might and the statistics is because there's more police in their neighborhood. It’s the exact opposite of a way to view it. There's more police in your neighborhoods because blacks commit more crimes. Period.” Of course, MacDonald agreed with Charlie’s point since her job is to protect the police at every turn. When this is the discourse happening on the other side of the aisle, it’s inconceivable to imagine how any progress at all can be made on these policing issues.
Matt Gaetz Lies Over and Over in MSNBC Interview
Congressman Matt Gaetz recently appeared on Ari Melber’s MSNBC show to talk about the recent contentious election of Kevin McCarthy to the House Speakership. Gaetz was one of the ringleaders in the effort to make anyone else besides McCarthy the Speaker, so presumably, he could provide details as to the concessions the establishment Republicans made in order to get the votes they needed. But instead, Gaetz refused to delve into the contents of the negotiations between McCarthy and the Freedom Caucus which included a 55-page rules package and a 3-page secret agreement. Melber wanted to know why part of the agreement is being kept secret and asked if that conflicted with Gaetz’s supposed stance that America needs to value transparency in government. But of course, Gaetz, like essentially all other Republicans, is willing to put his supposed principles aside when something else suits his interests at the time.

Kevin McCarthy IMPLODES During CBS Interview
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy appeared on CBS’s “Face the Nation” with Margaret Brennan and had a difficult time avoiding the questions being asked of him without making it obvious that this was exactly what he was doing. Most other politicians are able to provide non-answers in a way that makes the interviewer and the audience believe they did answer the question, but McCarthy simply doesn’t have this political talent. One of the things the new House Speaker was asked about was the numerous George Santos scandals. Brennan called out McCarthy for not answering her questions about whether he should be ousted from committees and Congress generally. Brennan said, “so you're just not going to answer the question?” In response, McCarthy looked silly and said, “you don't get to question whether I answer it. You asked a question I'm trying to get through that.” McCarthy will have to work on his obfuscation abilities, or even better, start answering questions from the press honestly.

Pelosi Attacker Speaks With Local News
David DePape, the man who allegedly attacked Paul Pelosi at this San Francisco home last year, called into a local news show to explain himself. DePape said, “I have an important message for everyone in America: Liberty isn't dying. It's being killed systematically and deliberately. The people killing it have names and addresses. They got their names and addresses so I could pay them a little visit. I have a heart-to-heart chat about their bad behavior. The tree of liberty needs watering. You need men of valor, patriots that will put their own lives on the line.” DePape went on to apologize, not in earnest about his own actions, but about how he wasn’t “better prepared” and “couldn’t get more of them.” Hopefully, DePape gets prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and these politically-motivated right-wing attacks don’t keep happening.

After listening to the video about Margret interviewing Keven I wrote this submission.
I thought I should copy it here..
I think you missed to whole point of the interview. For too long American news folks have allowed
someone to not answer the question and they (the interviewer) goes on to another topic. You
don't see this in some European countries. They will ask the same question again and again (using the same words) and again until the answer is really answered or the person being interview starts to
look stupid. The reason this works in some counties is because the level of education in the voting public is higher then we see here.
I don't think we have enough time left to bring up this education deficient before this whole country is set back to the days when there were kings and queens.
