Excellent article! I am happy you have shone a light on Newsom and Pritzker. I am so thankful they are here, among the leaders of the fight.

"At this point, the debate shouldn’t be whether Trump is in decline. The debate should be how much longer the country can pretend he isn’t". HELL YES DAVID! Perfectly said.

Actually, I think the stakes are international.

Yes, Bonnie, you are correct--the stakes most certainly are international in scope. Because of Trump's ineptitude, ego, and greed, all of which are exacerbated by his rapidly progressing dementia, the US is no longer a stable democracy and has lost the trust of our longtime friends. Our failing economy will have devastating repercussions around the world. The US has lost favor with most, if not all, of our closest allies worldwide, and Russia has felt ever more emboldened in its war on Ukraine, the Middle East is more destabilized, and Venezuela, Trump's "new target", may well become the next war torn country. Only when Trump is out of office, can our country and the rest of the world begin to heal.

I encourage all reading you David, to contact the Governors who speak this truth and express your support. I emailed both Newsom and Pritzkers offices to express gratitude for speaking forthright. They need to know we are behind this truth telling!

The people around him know he's in decline but they are using it to advance their own agenda. And while Dementia Don is out to lunch, JD is off on another Vaca so that he can assume plasable deniablility. Moses Mike is unaware of anything going on (that's his standard remark for everything). So its not their fault if The Don burns down the house along with the whole country. We have the rich, apartheid crew to swoop in and take over. We need even more Governors to stand up!

I haven't been whispering anything. I spent a good part of last summer watching the campaign rallies. I told everyone he was out of his mind, he doesn't speak intelligently, he talks about fictional characters as if they were real, he lies about things that are common knowledge and when he shouldn't have been truthful he was revealing to those few of us that were listening, his evil plans for our country l told everyone that if he was my Grandpa I would be taking the keys away from that lunatic.

Aberrant is a good word instead of the tired and overused - not normal which in my opinion was never a strong enough term! Can anyone else think of a good and dramatic word or term that clearly describes the abhorrent and criminal activity we are watching?

I use the word fascism. That is the abhorrent and criminal activity we are watching. People seem to think that word is a slur. ??? It is a perfect word that describes a central leader who holds power (plenary authority- ooops, Miller said it out loud) surrounded by totally faithful "rods" who carry out his agenda.

Exigent and acute analysis, David. The danger of Trump’s mental deterioration is even worse and more perilous than people think. In other words, we must not miss perceiving the forest of Trump’s long-term but rapidly worsening and decompensating mental disorder of psychopathy -- more specifically malignant narcissism and kindred anti-social personality disorders -- for the trees of his visibly accelerating cognitive decline, namely dementia. The admixture of these two aspects of brain and characterological abnormality potentiates his risk to human life and well-being everywhere. Forensic and social psychiatrist and violence expert Dr. Bandy X. Lee (who posts on Substack) and her eminent psychiatric colleagues have been warning about the danger of a mentally debilitated Trump as president for the last decade, and those warnings have now reached a crescendo of urgency as his hubristic power aggrandizement intensifies on steroids.

I did write a comment. It was incorrect. I don’t watch DT speak. I’ve long been unable to tolerate his voice& juvenile remarks. I said I thot his problem is more a personality disorder. After reading this post from David, I agree his decline is far more serious & dangerous than I believed. How do we enact the 25th Amendment? It must be done to save our democracy.

I totally agree. However, having the two most biased Democrat governors calling out Trump does not move the needle. What the US needs is for a few Republican governors to do the same.

I do not hold much hope that any Repubs have the courage to do it. Whatever happened to the land of the free and the home of the brave. I think they moved to Canada.

Something that you may not know is that NBC just BLOCKED Canada from viewing videos! Like WHAT?

I mean it isn't as if viewing NBC videos is a NEED or even in most cases a want, but how childish and, ultimately, short-sighted of them.

I only accidentally discovered this about 10 minutes ago (around 2:45pm Eastern).

Not accurate. There are inter- country regulations and licenses- not that NBC is negariously blocking Canada

THANK YOU. Plainly said. Accurately described. The moral somnambulism of the GOP/MAGA crew of cruelty apparently has too many marbles in the wager basket to face THE TRUTH. They would rather dissimulate? Stand by for utter destruction? Abysmal behavior More people with platforms must call it what it is. Not allow the charade to continue unchallenged. Ro Khanna on daily beast put a bow on the whole sorry shebang in a YouTube interview. His analysis: all of this debacle ties to entrenched power protection maneuvering to evade accountability for the rampant pedophilia - AKA Epstein files.

We, in the rest of the world, watch with horror what is being allowed by Congress to be done to each and every citizen of your country. We have been telling you AND RETELLING YOU what has been so obvious for so long, only to be told, rudely, to mind our own business. We'll it IS "our business".

So two prominent Democrat politicians now say, publicly, that his cognitive and moral decline is too obvious not to be acknowledged? And they are heroes for doing so? TWO?!?! Out of ALL the elected officials in the Divided States of America? What does that say about the moral spines of the other greater than 99%?

I hope that your October 18th protests provide some moral fiber to your elected officials, if only for the crass reason that they realise that the electorate just might not re-elect them if they don't get with the programme.

So sad for you. So worried for you. STAY STRONG and STAY SAFE!

As another Canadian I too watch in horror as your country is destroyed by a madman. He has a funny idea that all of Americans should go through hell before getting to heaven. That a paraphrase of what he says. Trump has some shady “business” dealings going on in Russia (Georgia) right now in the billions of dollars. So he can’t hurt Putin. There must be a legal way to swear in the New Democrat.

It must be a hellacious torture living inside the felon’s mind.

He’s always been one to compulsively project, and now he’s unable to make even a slight effort to control it.

He repetitiously mocked, and still mocks former President Joe Biden for the very things he suffers from himself.

But for whatever reason the Congress allows it.

A mentally ill, brain diseased man who is acting as president has no real power. It’s like giving a two year old the job, he is out of place. He is a danger to the nation, to the world.

He needs to be removed. And not just impeached but convicted. Immediately.
