There is no such thing as an "Alpha male", only men who are so insecure that need feel the need to "prove" that they can dominate everyone around them. That's pathetic. My husband is the kind of "Alpha male" men should want to emulated - self-confident enough to be vulnerable, strong enough to endure life's challenges, and open enough to show love toward other human beings.
I’m thinking that one of the reasons Trump was sent to Rich boy military school was because when he was in public school he was getting beat up by girls for his filthy mouth.
"Alpha male" is a right wing fantasy based on some early misconceptions of the concept in nature.
"The term was popularized by David Mech's 1970 book on wolves, but he later recanted it, explaining wild packs are led by breeding parents, not aggressive alphas. "
- Not only in wolves, but it turns out that the "alpha" among chimpanzees (whose social behavior, among all species, most closely resembles that of humans) is far from a domineering bully. There the most successful alpha is a mediator, a supporter of women, and a kindhearted role model for the youth.
The term was never meant to apply to humans. I remember when the term was widely used to describe what one might call “the pack leader” - the most dominant male animal in a group. Thanks for the reminder.
I know you didn't ask for this, but I really want to hammer home "alpha males":
Primates: In some monkey and ape societies (like capuchins), clear dominant males exist who get first access to food or mates.
Other Social Animals: The concept of dominance hierarchies (not always male-led) appears in many social species, from goats to birds, where a high-ranking individual might get better perches or lead foraging.
You're correct that wolf packs behave very differently from humans, and that's where the scientific concept for "alpha male" started. However, the term has since broadened to apply to many mammal species including chimpanzees. Chimpanzees have been scientifically proven to parallel human social behavior.
I can’t afford to upgrade but I read your content every time you post! Your ways of speaking are always to the point and I respect that. Thank you for sharing and your dedication and diligence for our country.
The idea of the “alpha male” comes from the animal kingdom… It has been incorrectly applied to human behavior. Better we get rid of this concept entirely. What you are seeing with maga is actually “toxic masculinity.”
Not just sucking up to and kissing the festering ass of a man who paints his face orange. That's pathetic enough. But the Orange Faced Arsehole is also the whiniest, whingingest, crybaby bitch who has ever soiled the White House by his very presence. He is also a convicted felon, serial bankrupt, scammer and a rapist. He also treasonously licks Putin's boots and tries to punish countries that have always been allies. How will his lackies and bootlickers explain their craven behaviour to their grandchildren? How will they explain it to the courts they will find themselves in when Trumps term is finally over?
Trump should never been allowed to happen. The first culprit would be the so-called all knowing God who created him if there is such a thing isn’t all knowing God.
The biggest failure was the American government for allowing this to happen in the first place. Our laws tell us that traitors cannot hold public office. Convicted felons cannot hold public office and Trump was convicted by a jury of 34 felonies. He had the best lawyer’s money could buy and he bought himself Judge Juan Merchan.
Then there are the MAGATS. Democrats mistakenly believed or pretended to believe that Trump had brainwashed half of America because they didn’t have the guts to admit that about half of the Americans are the scum of the Earth. They didn’t want to offend the MAGATS in hopes that maybe they could get a few of their votes when they should’ve said but Hillary said when she described them as a basket of deplorables. She should’ve doubled down on that one.
Some believe (as do I) Trump's credibility primarily stems from American gullibility and the popularity of television watching. In his starring role in "The Apprentice" he appeared wise, balanced, fair, and successful in business. Many who watched the show believed that's how Trump is in real life; the reality is that he's the opposite.
I watched a clip of Governor Newsom on Thanksgiving. He was at a shelter with his family, helping out. The big grin on his face, the slight swagger in his gait, the movements of his whole being said that he was serving at the finest restaurant. And then the huge hug from the old woman with the walker. Now, THAT was a man. Inviting, warm, happy, strong in spirit, and totally accepting of all.
While I would vote for Newsom over Trump in a heartbeat, let's not kid ourselves that he's some progressive reformer. He's very savvy at cultivating an image; but, when asked to share his opinion on actual issues it becomes rapidly obvious that he's no AOC or Bernie. In fact he's a real sleaze. For example, when recently asked for his opinion on Gaza, rather than answer, he subtly suggested that the interviewer was anti jewish.
MAGA has tried to rebrand alpha male by modeling name calling, fabrication, finger pointing, condensending, racism, sexism and greed at any cost. ( including taxpayers) so if anyone buys into the "rebranding " mindset the inner circle and close minions are all justified in the debacle that has unfolded since Trump eas voted back in. It is a pathetic ruse.
Every morning they line up go get their brown noses from Trump's you know what - every single one of them from Chief Justice Roberts to ICE Barbie. Bondi gets to first since she is the senior butt buddy.
One of your very best pieces, David! So very well articulated. Please PLEASE do not remove this piece; it really IS a keeper that I would like to be able to share with others and even reference/cite down the line.
Keep being who you are and doing what you do. Your voice is very necessary, so please STAY SAFE. ♥️🇨🇦
Wild how the dudes yelling “alpha male” the loudest keep lining up behind a man who needs more makeup than a Broadway cast and throws tantrums like a toddler who lost his iPad. Power isn’t their vibe. Permission is.
It’s not masculinity. It’s cosplay obedience. And half the country is tired of pretending it’s anything deeper than that.
I live in No. NV, and I’m appalled by the number of people, a few close to me, who just go along with their war crimes. “Well,” they say, “He’s targeting drug dealers…” Nobody wants to believe our American would commit war crimes.

He sounds like a TRUE "Alpha" indeed! Alphas do not bully or demean . . . or RAPE. There is no biglier "Beta" on Earth than Bunkerboy.

Thank you for stating that, it is very much appreciated.

Extraordinarily well-described!!!
I think the point I appreciate most is your invitation to dialog David, thanks so much~
it's something those wanna be alpha don't comprehend.
they want to lecture and postulate, not exchange and appreciate others views.
How in God's name did these three omega males get into.the halls of power. They can kiss my sweet ass.
"OMEGA MALES" = Brilliant descriptor!! 🤔😳😉😉☺️☺️
Thank you for this, Peter.🎉🎉🎉
I have seen a 💩 on legs from within ten minutes of it sliding and stinking its way down the escalator at TT in 2015 to announce its run for POTUS.
Nothing that 💩 can do or say will change my view.
It has needed flushing for many years. Just DO IT!

That's a funny and true way to say it!
