Trump Humiliated, Brain Falls Out

Donald Trump is continuing to hold large campaign rallies as if there is no coronavirus pandemic happening. Over the weekend, he held one in Fayetteville, North Carolina after the country had learned about the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Trump forced the chant “fill that seat,” making it clear he will try to replace Ginsburg before the election. Trump then polled the audience on whether they want him to appoint a woman or a man to the bench, which is exactly the type of identity politics that the right wing proclaims to be against.

During the appearance, Trump had some serious difficulty speaking. He promised the US would become the first “station” to put an astronaut on “Nars.” Trump also had an issue pronouncing “Nobel Peace Prize” and even referred to himself as “Donald Pump.” For all of those questioning Joe Biden’s speech patterns and cognitive abilities, perhaps they need to be concerned about Trump’s.

Death of a Legend: Ruth Bader Ginsburg Dead at 87

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away over the weekend at the age of 87. The news immediately set off a nationwide period of mourning for one of the premier progressive jurists in American history and a true lioness of the court. Her personal story of becoming the second woman to serve on the highest court despite the barriers she faced is an inspiring one. RBG became a cultural icon in her 80s and a true rock star in the political, social and cultural world.

Upon the news of her death, President Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell made it clear that they will try to fill her seat before the election or during the lame duck period. If they are able to do so, the court will be decisively in conservative hands, six votes to three. Undoing that advantage could take a generation. Whether they will be able to accomplish this remains to be seen. In order to halt the nomination process until next year, Democrats would need four Senate Republicans to join them in obstructing Trump’s replacement pick.

How Many Trumpists Support QAnon?

A live caller asked about the portion of Trump supporters who believe in the QAnon conspiracy theory. According to Alex Kaplan of Media Matters, there are likely millions, but not tens of millions, of QAnoners based on social media presence. Their membership outside of social media circles is less clear. Remarkably, there are about twenty QAnon candidates on the ballot for the 2020 elections, two of whom have a serious chance of being elected to the US House of Representatives.
