Particularly if it was a ham sandwich. The guy was fired from his DOJ job, punishment fixes that.
However this is one of the thousand cuts to law enforcement. We are rapidly moving to the point where no one will want to be a policemen or soldier. The freedom of speech first amendment is being abused. You now have the "right" to get up in the face of police in the name of protest. Then allow them to spit in your face and police have to take it. We are training the public to be disrespectful to any authority to include teachers. Then we wonder why crime and drugs is out of control.
Point being protesters should not be allowed to get near enough to police to touch or spit or pull a knife. Protesters should not be able to treat police as the enemy. Whatever happened to "keep your distance". The lack of respect makes it difficult to recruit police so you land up with some that should not be police.
Biden on his worst day was always so very much better than Trump on his best day, for everything that mattered. Unless you think lying and attacking and being an all around bully and incompetent idiot are better qualities. yes, I saw the 'debate' that ruined Biden, but I also SAW the debate.
Biden's 'failing' was his honesty and respectfulness of the process. Biden actually worked to give full, complex answers inside the allowed (too short and arbitrary) time limits whereas trump just evaded answering, lied when he did answer, shoved out attacks and generally acted like a bully. But perhaps that is what made you think trump came across better. It sure was what everyone else responded to.
Biden has always stuttered and sometimes at the end of a complex thought with the time limit almost up, and yes, as we get older sometimes we get a bit slower (does not mean we forgot everything or got dumber) the answer got the tail end summary a bit garbled. It was painful to watch, like an Olympic gymnast face planting after a triple flip or something, but Trump never tried to even engage with the rules of answering questions. Like a competitor in the Olympics just going out there and standing there, moving his arms a bit while swaying to the music... But nobody cared.
Yes, is it not exciting being able to attack a man who would never think of attacking back. Biden honored the constitution which includes the presumption that politicians of different parties are supposed to be able to work together, and that the winner of the election gets to take office. Biden was everything Trump was not (except being old).
Biden was extremely competent and got more done in four years than any other president I can remember in even their eight years in office. Possible exception with Trump, but it does not take great competence to destroy everything around you. It is the same attitude of blaming the candidate for not being perfect that led to Trump being president again. Trump claimed to be perfect and too many believed him.
You could be right. You are certainly right about the politicians, but even in the 'polls' the average person may be afraid the pollster could be corrupt or corruptable and their opinions could get into the wrong hands, with their identity tied to it. Easy in a climate of fear to become paranoid. Paranoia is not always an innapropriate response to a bad situation. Luckilly our ballots are still not attached to our names. This is even more verifiable when we vote in person.
If you equate fair criticism with "attack" -- I feel sorry for you. It's another reason why so many Democrats disenchanted so many voters.
"..the constitution which includes the presumption that politicians of different parties are supposed to be able to work together, " There is no such presumption in the constitution.
As a candidate in 2019, Biden made the statement that he thought that the Republicans were actually a fine bunch of people who had been temporarily hijacked by Trumpism, and that soon they would have an epiphany and return to normal.
(How did that work out?) I thought he was completely out of touch with reality.
Read the constitution again. Consider how they got all the states to sign the constitution, it was full of compromises and addressing different concerns.
Yes, Biden knew there were many bad people out there, but he saw the good in the bulk of the people and saw how they had been 'presuaded'. Consder all he got accomplished, and who do you blame?
Blame the voters for voting in Trump, again, when they bloody well should have known better. Heck, they should have known better the first time.
You want a perfect candidate? Run for office.
You want to blame people for being stupid, educate them, but yelling in their face, insulting them does not usually work so well in persuading them. FYI, Biden won in 2020, in case you forgot, so apparently he persuaded some former Trump voters to vote for him with all his 'out of touch with reality' talk...
Especially since they still want to investigate Biden. To that end we need amendment for age limits on presidents and congress. 65 and you are out, which also means you cannot run if you will be 65 during your term in office. These dinosaurs are also keeping the younger, more qualified from running.
Or perhaps better yet, establish guidelines and an amendment to enforce it to ensure when a person is mentally unstable and/or their memories too fragmented that they are removed from office. This would have included Trump in the beginning of his first term as he has always been a walking nightmare of symptoms that tell professionals 'This person should neve be placed in ANY position of responsibility'. Would make people more attentive to the VP pick. FYI, Biden was fully functional for the job to his last day, sadly too many are so afraid of old age and dementia that they can't see the difference between a stutter condition, getting slower and the ability to manage complex decisions, applying values and out negotiating the best there was.
Another disqualifier for office is foreign interests. Trump would not be able to get a security clearance based just on doing business with the Russians and probably other countries.
True, but while objectively a security clearance could be a requirement, it would have to be trusted to be non-partisan. Would you trust a rejection of Security clearance from THIS Adminsitration? I like the idea, we just need to work out the details. Included in them would be how to protect people from being fired or otherwise coerced in how they do their jobs by the current administration.
Lets face it no sane person would want the job. As for such tests, cons like Trump are great at faking it so not sure any professional could diagnose greed and lack of empathy. I think he is a paranoid schizophrenic. He has an unbelievable persecution/inferiority complex as Americans second biggest victim next to Rodney Dangerfield.
I hear you, but actually professionals have gotten quite good over the decades. Professionals are blocked from making diagnosis of public figures, especially politicians and yet still a lot of them did, and wrote a book. But books are where we hide the truth from people who do not want to hear it.
Yes, Trump is so very bad and broken in so many ways that ANY objective standard would have kept him out of office. Sadly most people are not very good apparently at spotting con men, liars and generally evil people.
Only if we the voters let it. I am reminded of the 2020 primaries when a billionaire rolled into the race with LOTS of money and got such a meager reception he soon dropped out. He was not a bad guy, just not who the people wanted. Money buys exposure so people can get to know you, or you can 'earn' exposure by doing things that get the attention of the media. Trump does a lot of the latter on top of the money spent.
Chaos. Chaos. How do you sleep at night ? Will it be any better when Vance is President? Asking for a friend in Canada. We are weary of the non stop noise from our neighbour to the South.
The presidency has now become a reality tv show. T still thinks of himself as an entertainer who can throw chaos bombs and watch the press and Dems go crazy. Added he is running sideline money making gigs like Tooth Social, kleptocoin, DJT stock and insider trading like buying Apple stock and shaking down Cook. At what point is enough enough? Where is Blondi DOJ on that racket.
Vance will be weaker without the loyalty of Trump's cult. It is a cult of personality and Trump has deliberately not named a successor, for fear of being replaced. Trump has no need for a successor because he is not trying to create anything, it is all a grift for money and to stay out of jail.
Well this is the chaos that he promised you. Not YOU personally, but those of the people in your country who voted him into office. Getting him out of office is going to be far more difficult than getting him in.
What is happening to your country is more than a tad terrifying. Thank you, David, for your concerted efforts to keep us informed. STAY SAFE. ❤️🇨🇦❤️
As I shared yesterday from my now day old commentary that is truly of evergreen proportions as it was relevant when Trump first ran for office and until this very moment. The condition from which the Outlaw-in-Chief suffers is ASPD which is at the root of everything he say, does, or thinks about and this fact is what everybody on every substack and ever media outlet and the the people should be discussing as to why all this shit is happening:
Agree, but I suspect that merely scratches the surface of the many ways he is broken. Many books will be written describing his crimes and sins, failings and successes and of all those, it is his successes which will point to our failings in teaching our youth the skills of thinking. As your post notes, this has been obvious for a long time now, and yet so very many fell into his cult, because we did not train our youth how to spot and resist a cult. So very obvious all his crimes and sleezy behavior and yet we did not teach our youth how to spot liars, criminals and 'bad people' even when they are rich and charming. Sure, a mean looking man, ugly and crude is an obvious 'bad man' (though many are good and honorable) but we are used to evaluating people on their appearance and not their actions. We do not train our youth to spot bogus arguments and spot lies and then distrust liars. We have also failed in our society to realize there are still far too many people full of hate and rage, bigots and those thinking women are less than 'people' (including sadly, too many women), homophobes and generally selfish people with little to no compassion for others. We have been so busy pushing the perspective that everyone is nice now on these issues, that we have not been addressing the festering wound within our society.
So yes, ASPD meaning "a chronic disregard for rules and laws, a lack of empathy and remorse, and manipulative and deceitful behaviors like lying and stealing" does describe significant aspects of Trump, but getting people to see it and realize how bad it is, is where we as a society fell down.
I hate that Trump is destroying our economy and our reputation across the world. I don't know this to be true, but I've heard that some countries don't want to accept American dollars anymore.
Dollar is stronger than Trump so hold off on buying Zimbabwean stock and money. Countries will say they do not want the dollar, but under the radar everyone loves the greenback. Anyone seriously want rubles or yuan over the dollar?
Want to ruin a country, flood it with counterfeit money
Thanks to you Mr.pakman for your research and your courage in providing the truth to those who want to hear. You are slowing the facism that trump and the wealthy class want so badly
Why can we not call out Trump's mental disfunctions, of which he has so many, without so many of 'us' dumping on Biden? Is it so much a part of our nature that we MUST eat our own even when they do not deserve it?
Biden on his worst day was NEVER even remotely as dysfunctional as Trump ever was, even from many years ago. Biden managed an administration that accomplished so very very much, out negotiated Republicans, gathered together a HUGE coalition of governments to sanction Russia and rally support of Ukraine and got passed more huge (good) bills than any other president in memory being able to do in their entire time in office.
He had a stutter and respected the institution he spent decades in, and for this many will dump on him, so forgive him for being human, but it was also part of his strength that enabled his successes.
It is OUR fault for not voting for his successor and instead too many voted for Trump or stayed home. Yes, Biden got old, but respect the man, his accomplishments, his values, integrity, honesty and yes, competence to the end.
Just 'notha day in the PRT.... I believe that the election was bought and rigged but ...if I'm wrong then I will believe that young people in their infinite wisdom ( sarcasm ) put the Guilded Gonad over the top simply for entertainment. The younger generations need to be entertained constantly to alleviate their constant boredom. Sick I know but this dude thinks it's true. I'd bet big on it.
"Prosecutors are unable to get an indictment against a man who threw a sandwich at a federal agent."
That is a great 'sign of the times'. Grand Juries typically have a lot of respect for the prosecutors and will generally sign onto most any indictment. Clearly this grand Jury is aware of what is going on and recognizing this prosecutor, clearly working on behalf of Trump's agenda of intimidation, decided they did not have to play along. They had a choice. They could still vote...
Maybe the prosecutors would have had more luck if they'd tried to indict the sandwich instead of the pitcher.
Particularly if it was a ham sandwich. The guy was fired from his DOJ job, punishment fixes that.
However this is one of the thousand cuts to law enforcement. We are rapidly moving to the point where no one will want to be a policemen or soldier. Then we wonder why crime and drugs is out of control.
You should apply for a job at FOX.
Isn’t spitting in someone’s face called battery? And doesn’t respect go both ways?
Point being protesters should not be allowed to get near enough to police to touch or spit or pull a knife. Protesters should not be able to treat police as the enemy. Whatever happened to "keep your distance". The lack of respect makes it difficult to recruit police so you land up with some that should not be police.
Trump's dementia makes Biden look like the sharpest tool in the shed. That says a lot.
Biden on his worst day was always so very much better than Trump on his best day, for everything that mattered. Unless you think lying and attacking and being an all around bully and incompetent idiot are better qualities. yes, I saw the 'debate' that ruined Biden, but I also SAW the debate.

Like a competitor in the Olympics just going out there and standing there, moving his arms a bit while swaying to the music... But nobody cared.
Unfortunately, Biden's failings were of the nature that allowed Trump back in the game.
NEVER forget that when Trump showed up at the White House the morning of his inauguration in January, Biden greeted him with "Welcome Home."
Yes, is it not exciting being able to attack a man who would never think of attacking back. Biden honored the constitution which includes the presumption that politicians of different parties are supposed to be able to work together, and that the winner of the election gets to take office. Trump claims to be a lot of things but really by now wtf would believe him?
Sadly too many. Consider his continued level of support.
Looks more like fear to me.

Don't believe that....sounds like a snarky comment Jesse Watters or Greg Gutpunch might utter.
Especially since they still want to investigate Biden. I won't be surprised when MAGA pulls Secret Service protection from Barack Obama and tries to bring charges against him.

The problem boils down to money. It can buy the presidency.
Only if we the voters let it. I am reminded of the 2020 primaries when a billionaire rolled into the race with LOTS of money and got such a meager reception he soon dropped out.
