The Senate has passed a sweeping Republican-backed bill that strips health care coverage from at least 17 million people while billionaires get tax cuts. The bill slashes over a trillion dollars from Medicaid, Medicare, and ACA subsidies. It imposes harsh work requirements and higher costs that will hit low-income families, seniors, and rural communities hardest. Abortion access is also under threat, with restrictions that could shutter clinics across the country.
Senator Lisa Murkowski voted for the bill after securing a carveout to help rural hospitals in Alaska. Though she admitted the bill will harm many Americans, she defended her vote as putting her state first. Republicans dangled enough incentives to flip votes before bringing in Vice President J.D. Vance to seal the deal.
Meanwhile, the job market is showing its first signs of real weakness in more than two years. Private employers cut 33,000 jobs in June, and May’s numbers were revised down. Trump’s looming tariffs could tip the scales, raising import costs and forcing businesses to shed more jobs. When the bad jobs report broke live on Fox News, host Maria Bartiromo abruptly changed the subject to doge the inconvenient truth.
Trump’s rhetoric has taken an increasingly authoritarian turn. He floated prosecuting CNN journalists, arresting a New York politician, and even deporting natural-born citizens. Trump also spread easily debunked lies about gas prices and inflation. Yet most mainstream outlets ignored the press conference’s disturbing content, treating it like routine bluster.
Finally, David Graham of The Atlantic joined the show to shed light on how Project 2025 has bolstered presidential authority by downsizing government functions and advancing a Christian nationalist agenda. The initiative closely aligns with Trump’s priorities on immigration and political retribution, relying on loyal officials to drive its objectives.

As far as I know there hasn’t been a dictator who can rule over a prosperous nation. So the higher the unemployment numbers are the better for the dictator. Starving people are easier to rule than prosperous people.
This is so sad and pathetic.
No, it’s still in the house and the Democrats are ahead so far and it’s 3 PM
