The “evil” immigrant is complete political fiction and attempts to instill prejudice in our free country. Oh, wait, the current regime isn’t about freedom — isn’t there a clip from day one of Trump vowing to be a dictator on day one?
I heard Führer tRump say that several times during the campaign. I also heard him say we would never have to vote again and that ALL immigrants had to go - not just the people of color or just criminals. I often felt like I was the only one who believed him.
teaches coordinated national strategic actions to locally organize, host community gatherings, and build a force bigger than fear, to bring down the tRump and his administration from hell.
Let's make Good Trouble and Strike! We must stop The tRump and his administration from hell! The demonic tRump and his billionaire oligarch only care about money. LET'S SHUT THIS FUCKIN’ COUNTRY DOWN!!!
General Strike US supporters are organizing a National Strike. The most powerful strikers are the workers who are employed by the national multi-billionaire companies like Amazon, chain stores and restaurants who have locations in nearly every state across the country, like Amazon, Walmart, McDonald's along with technology and auto, like Tesla, Apple, Meta, Alphabet workers like these will have the most impact. Keep your money in your own communities and support small grocery stores, restaurants and businesses instead.
The most important thing Non-Strikers and everyone can do is stop making the greedy billionaire oligarchs even richer. STOP SHOPPING and BUYING from INTERNATIONAL BILLION DOLLAR COMPANIES! Make yourselves richer and buy GROCERIES ONLY until we get the Limp Dick Traitor and his evil administration from hell, out of the White House and out of our government!!!
It's going to take ALL of us to bring down the tRump regime and billionaire oligarchs, who own and rule them. The oligarchs already get rich hogging the money you earn but now they have found ways to get wealthier by ending human services. Thereby, eliminating the old, the weak, the sick and the poor through needless suffering until death.
I am usually in sync with you, however on the issue of immigration I am not. I realize this is close to you coming as a kid from Argentina. My mom came from England as a result of marrying my soldier dad during WWII. One of the happiest days of her life was to become a naturalized citizen. All done legal and it took many years.
With that as a preface, I am not against legal immigration. I am against illegal immigration that has become so muddled that there does not seem to be any difference in legal or illegal. Dems do not even use the term. Instead referring to it as undocumented which I find insulting to the rule of law.
It is no stretch of the imagination that Trump was elected just on this issue alone. Your argument that illegals make better citizens than the rest of us because they commit less crime is nonsense. There are probably 320 million legal citizens and maybe 20 million illegal. So it is no stretch of math that 320 million will have higher numbers of criminals compared to the 20 million.
If Dems want to have a chance of winning back the US you need to get on board and stop sweeping illegal immigration under the rug.
You seem to have some honest questions so I’m responding.
We have two kinds of legal immigration in our country: 1) temporary students and workers; 2) those seeking permanent residency or citizenship. Unfortunately the path to citizenship is long and uncertain, much more so than post WWII. Last year’s attempt by Congress to pass a comprehensive immigration bill was killed for political reasons. As you mentioned, Trump made it his primary campaign issue.
Undocumented is simply a legal term meaning a person is here literally without necessarily documents (green card, visa, EAD work permit, etc). Some overstayed their visas, lost their job, quit school, or came over the boarder illegally. And some are actual criminals. Criminals should absolutely be prosecuted, punished if found guilty and then deported. I think we all agree on this.
The current ICE arrests are causing great suffering & chaos for both immigrants, their families and employers. Many were here lawfully with green cards, student visas, under special protection or asylum status, only to have their status suddenly revoked. Immigrants are being arrested at their immigration appointments, places of employment, churches and schools.
There is a deliberate cruelty in this current approach. This is a very different landscape than the one your mother faced when she arrived.
As for crime statistics that indicate immigrants commit less crime, they are based on “per capita” statistics, not overall populations. Immigrant crime rates are significantly lower.
By the way, I don’t want illegal immigration either. It serves no one’s best interest. We need clear, humane, reasonable immigration laws and quotas. We need more immigration attorneys and judges to process immigrants quickly for work, school, permanent residency or citizenship. We don’t need to build huge detention facilities, we need a more efficient system to quickly process those seeking entry.
Immigrants literally built this country, bringing skills, ideas, culture and food from around the world to create our incredibly rich and diverse nation.
The moral question Americans now face is how severely do we want to punish people living “illegally” in our country who just want to work and care for their families. How many people, families, businesses and communities will we destroy before we say enough.
Thank you for your kind and thoughtful reply. There is no resolution to immigration that will please everyone. The US has been a beacon of hope for the rest of the world. But that vision is not a guarantee, it has limits especially when it comes to immigration. Those who think immigration is a human right, need to look at the cost and tradeoffs.
USA has $35 to $200 trillion in unsustainable debt now. We have 500,000 kids in foster care, homeless in every city and growing, our jails and prisons are full, medical care is limited and for many unaffordable. Commercial and consumer debt is at all time levels. Our roads and bridges are failing. AI now threatens to layoff millions, with no jobs for those shown the door.
A life boat can only hold so many people. What happens when you exceed capacity, it sinks and everyone drowns. If the US is to continue to be a beacon of hope, it has weigh its support of humanity against its ability to pay for it. We are now using the national credit card for debts incurred decades ago. Soon we will be using all our tax dollars to pay interest on debt. The collapse of our way of life will not benefit the rest of the world.
I appreciate the severity of the issues we face, but, they were never caused by immigrants. Most if not all of our problems come from extreme income inequality between working Americans and the top 10% of wealth holders. They don’t pay their fair share of taxes and use undue influence to game the system. And then they redirect our outrage to scapegoat immigrants and those who need assistance and we keep falling for it. It’s a very old playbook.
First, let me be clear, not a Trump supporter. However I am not oblivious as to how he slithered in. He tapped into a major problem we have with immigration. Meanwhile the Dems as you have pointed out do not distinguish much between legal and illegal immigration. Essentially they see it as a human right that can be solved thru open borders and mass amnesty. The problem is not the immigrants, it is the hard hearted fat white rich who want to keep prosperity all for themselves. The solution is to take the money away from them and give it to suffering.
I freely admit that the distribution of wealth is appalling and the rich have gamed the system in their favor. In fact that wealth is a big attraction for immigration. If we were a poor country, who would want to come here. Fully agree there is mass suffering around the world. However, does anyone seriously believe the US has the capacity to support those billions by opening our doors to all?
We need to stop and dispel the myth that the US is the richest country on the planet and therefore has the capacity to solve all problems. In a greater sense we are also the poorest country with a national debt in the trillions and growing worse ever day. The only reason we are not in a depression is that everyone is getting by on credit cards and all other forms of debt.
People are human beings. It is not illegal to be human. It is also not illegal to do what you need to do to survive. Making someone fear for their life and their freedom for seeking survival is evil and immoral.
Humans migrate. Always have, always will. Humans are smart and persistent and creative. Guarded borders are the last gasp of failing empires. Go read the plaque on the statue of liberty. That is the USA. If that inscription no longer holds, the USA has already fallen. Welcome to Gilead.
Crime rates are measured per capita. How many crimes committed per thousand or ten thousand or hundred thousand persons. Undocumented immigrants DO commit far fewer and less violent crimes per capita than citizens. It makes sense too. They are especially careful to not get in trouble and call attention to themselves. They have more to lose than a citizen. Think about it.
When illegals brush up with the law, law enforcement does not always know or record their citizenship. In fact they are prevented from doing that, it was considered profiling which was declared illegal. Citizenship it is not even allowed on the census.
There is institutional protections to disguise the numbers of illegals. Sheriff Arpaio of Phoenix, AZ almost went to jail over it. We are now seeing that in living color as blue states fight supporting ICE.
Regardless, of who is worse or better, there is no doubt the cartels use the migrants. So they may in fact commit lesser numbers of crimes, the damage done by those crimes like drug and human smuggling is devastating to this country.
The “evil” immigrant is complete political fiction and attempts to instill prejudice in our free country. Oh, wait, the current regime isn’t about freedom — isn’t there a clip from day one of Trump vowing to be a dictator on day one?
