Today is Thursday, September 11, 2025, and this is your news and preview of today's show.
Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated yesterday during an appearance at a Utah college. Authorities say the gunman fired from a rooftop several hundred feet away before escaping. The shooter has not been caught.
The FBI initially announced that a suspect had been taken into custody but later said the individual was released after questioning. Director Kash Patel said the investigation remains active with “a few hot leads” and “a little bit of foreign intelligence.” Officials confirm they are analyzing low-quality security footage showing a figure in dark clothing.
Donald Trump responded by blaming what he called “radical left rhetoric” for the attack. He vowed to pursue not only the shooter but also organizations and individuals he claims contributed to an environment of political violence. On Capitol Hill, Representative Nancy Mace said Democrats “own what happened.” On Fox News, Jesse Watters said “we’re going to avenge Charlie Kirk’s death,” while Greg Gutfeld suggested the killing “feels professional.”
Public reaction has been shaped by the spread of video. Multiple clips of the shooting circulated across social media within minutes, showing the attack and the chaos that followed. Analysts say the speed of circulation fuels conspiracy theories and misinformation before facts are confirmed.
Kirk’s death was not the only shooting yesterday. In Colorado, a 16-year-old opened fire at Evergreen High School, injuring two classmates before taking his own life. One victim remains in critical condition. Elsewhere, shootings were reported in Atlanta, Baltimore, Detroit, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Orlando, Sacramento, and more than a dozen other cities.
In other political news, former Vice President Kamala Harris is drawing attention with her new memoir 107 Days. Harris criticizes President Biden’s decision to seek reelection in 2024, calling it reckless and saying it weakened the Democratic Party. She writes that Biden undercut her repeatedly, citing his handling of her role as “border czar” and his delay in endorsing her after stepping aside.
