Today is Thursday, September 18, 2025, and this is your news and preview of today's show.

ABC has suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live! indefinitely after controversy over a monologue about the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Nexstar, one of ABC’s largest station groups, pulled the program from affiliates, and FCC Chair Brendan Carr warned licensed broadcasters could face fines or license action if they continued airing it. The suspension drew immediate praise from Donald Trump, who has long targeted late-night hosts, calling the decision “great news” on social media.

In economic news, the Federal Reserve cut interest rates by 25 basis points, lowering its benchmark to a range of 4.00 to 4.25 percent. Jerome Powell said job growth has slowed, risks to employment have increased, and inflation remains somewhat elevated. He noted GDP growth has cooled compared with last year, describing a softer labor market that could present challenges ahead.

Former President Barack Obama issued a rare direct rebuke of Trump, urging presidents to unite the country in tense moments. Obama contrasted Trump’s leadership with Republicans such as George W. Bush, John McCain, and Mitt Romney, saying they shared core American values that he believes are now at risk.

President Trump’s state visit to the United Kingdom was marked by official ceremonies but also large protests in London. His speeches included several awkward and halting moments, while photographs of visible bruising on his hands drew attention.

In Washington, FBI Director Kash Patel faced aggressive questioning from lawmakers during a hearing on the Jeffrey Epstein files. Democrats pressed Patel on whether Trump’s name appeared in released indexes, while Republicans voiced frustration over the bureau’s refusal to release additional evidence.

And Karoline Leavitt drew attention with a social media post suggesting a Utah earthquake was a divine sign linked to Charlie Kirk’s shooting, prompting renewed discussion of religious rhetoric in public life.

On the Bonus Show today:

Trump says he's going to classify Antifa as a terrorist organization.

Luigi Mangione's state terrorism charges dismissed.

And House Democrats weigh whether to support legislation honoring Charlie Kirk.
