History always repeats itself. This is how it started in Germany. My family lived there and told me the stories

Exactly. They condemned anyone who didnt agree with them. They are starting to do that here as well..Im seriously thinking of leaving the US. I dont relish the idea of being detained or worse for my opinions, thank you very much!

A lot of people I know have told me already that they are getting (or have already got) their passports and visas in order "just in case" -- these are families of regular people, with kids in schools, pets, jobs, and a long history in this country. Some of us cannot leave for reasons that cannot be modified, at least right now. But we too feel a sense of panic or unease.

Exactly right... truly terrifying!

And to think, so many people still don't even realize what's happening OR don't think it'll ever reach them 😩

Sadly it seems that Humanity never learns from history. Perhaps it is because our lifespan is too short and we feel it will never happen to us.

Those who wish to learn, learn. Those who idealize the past rewrite history so they can repeat it. Like what is happening now. The Fourth Reich is eliminating Black history, Black achievements, and Black contributions to our nation so they can eliminate their rights and citizenship. They want slavery again. They want a Fascist government that represses the people who aren't wealthy enough to buy into the government with donations and bribes.

It doesn't take as long to learn as it does to accept we don't already know.

I've been afraid of this for the past decade, especially as I saw the support and blind devotion growing, but we used to at least have checks and balances

Now, with all the dangerous escalation and so many still acting like it's "normal" times, seems like we're doomed... the whole country, not just the ones they're choosing to hate first (or second... or third...) 😣

In Germany they had to be convinced tho. Whereas in America, people voted for it willingly.

Apparently Charles deGaulle walked past a wall with graffiti scrawled on it that said, "Kill all the a**holes!" De Gaulle wa heard to mutter, in French, "That's a really huge project." :-)

Inactivity is almost as bad as the wrong activity, seems to me.

I have a question:

If a person is hired for a new job, they agree to show up and do the job right. If they fail to uphold their part of the bargain, they usually get fired.

When Donald trump put his hand on the Bible and swore before God to uphold the United States Constitution and to faithfully execute its laws, he made a solemn vow.

It seems to me pretty clear that Trump has utterly failed to do what he vowed to do.

Why can't Trump be FIRED FOR CAUSE?

Just to clarify - he didn't actually put his hand on the bible and Roberts let it slide. So symbolic it makes me literally nauseous

First off if you recall the thief in chief never put his hand on the bible( it would have burned). Second because of the very unlikely chance that the Republicans claimed both House and Senate as well ...a curious fact NO ONE talks about.Third every stinking Republican votes Trump's way so really nothing can be done until these people get some nuts. If we get the chance to vote again (doubtful) remember all this...political amnesia is a real thing.

These news episodes are very importantly useful, David. I mourn the death of due process and of free speech in your country. The incitement to violence by your very top officials (president and v-p) is TERRIFYING. Please STAY SAFE!

False statements? Let’s all use the right word. Lies. From Rolling Stone: Channel 4, the publicly owned broadcaster founded in 1982, announced today that it will greet Trump’s visit with a televised special chronicling the many lies told by the president during the first months of his second administration.

I hope that someone captures what British Channel Four is doing. I applaud what they are doing in this instance. It will be viewed as subversive in your country, but it will be a very important INDEPENDENT RECORD.

We don't have time to review his 38,000 public lies of his career in just a week, so I guess a one hour show would only include a few chosen ones. I used to try to pick the "Lie Of The Day", and I could only sort them by "Which Lie today will kill the most people".

Well I just heard about Jimmy Kimmel being yanked. I responded by canceling my subscription to Disney and Paramount. In the comments I wrote that I was disappointed because of their pandering to the Trump Administration and limiting the First Amendment right of comedians to express themselves. I think it's appalling that these talents can be pulled because of the whim of a president because he doesn't approve of the satire. It's only one person but maybe if enough people pull their subscriptions and stop watching these Networks it might amount to a Grassroots movement that will catch their attention by making a difference in their bottom line. What do you think?

Pretty soon they'll have me boycotting everything and I'll just be reading books by candlelight like it's the fckn 1800s again... at least for as long as those (or we) still exist!

I know that when I want to pay a bribe to Trump, I join one or more of his country clubs for $500,000, or coordinate to lose money on his version of Bitcoin. There are many acceptable ways that you can buy the laws you want from this man. We ignore the Fascist apparatus that wrote Project 2025, those who organized and funded Jan. 6, Those who seek trillions of $ more national debt, the same who seek massive reductions in population, by any means, and who may be directing nuclear WWIII. No way to survive WWIII for most of us. Stop it now. We have mass communication now, even translators on our phones. We must attend demonstrations, and protest, but keep in mind "The Battle In Seattle". Many groups got together, in effect protesting the world-wide loss of $142 trillion dollars to the rich. Each group was asked, and they all saw no one they knew setting fires. I allege Fascists hired agitators (as they do in overthrow of governments). Let us capture those who do violence, even in our own ranks. We need our own plan for world domination: 8 billion voters. Thank you for enduring my rant.

Today I can call Agent Orange (DJT) a murderer. By ordering the murder of Venezuelans on three boats. I accused him before of future mass murder for closing USAID, who have saved 53 million lives between 2009 to 2021, and the millions of lives to be lost from Medicare cuts. I am some kind of heretic: I love all religions that preach the golden rule. After studying a small amount, I come to the conclusion that All Merciful God would have us experience all the good and bad we have done, which experience IS Hell, or Heaven. So, Charlie Kirk will have some unpleasant time, on his way through to the Pearly Gates, but will pass through to Heaven. Agent Orange will have his soul experience millions of deaths, which seems to be Hell to me. May God bless us to find the Golden Rule, for ourselves, and billions of future humanity.
