Today is Wednesday, October 8, 2025, and this is your news and preview of today’s show.
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker is publicly accusing President Donald Trump of suffering from dementia, following the president’s decision to deploy National Guard troops to Chicago and Portland over state objections. Pritzker told the Chicago Tribune, “This is a man who’s suffering dementia.” Troops from Texas are reportedly being stationed in Illinois, with 300 Illinois National Guard members ordered to serve at least 60 days.
At a tense Senate hearing, Attorney General Pam Bondi faced sharp questioning from multiple senators about the handling of Epstein-related records and alleged efforts to shield Trump. Bondi refused to answer direct questions, at one point shouting, “Don’t call me a liar!” when pressed by Senator Welch. She also clashed with Senators Durbin, Schiff, and Padilla, accusing them of bias and deflecting when asked whether FBI records included incriminating photos of Trump.
Meanwhile, President Trump is drawing new legal scrutiny after telling reporters he would only pay federal workers “who deserve to be taken care of,” referring to employees furloughed during the ongoing government shutdown.
During a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Trump again made a series of erratic and false statements, including claims that airport delays are “Democrat delays” and that Americans “don’t want to buy cars made in Canada.” The exchange grew tense after Trump interrupted Carney to suggest a “merger” between the United States and Canada, which Carney quickly dismissed. Trump also lashed out at Representative Jasmine Crockett and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, continuing a series of public attacks on political opponents.
On social media, Trump called for the immediate imprisonment of Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Governor J.B. Pritzker, accusing them of failing to protect ICE officers. Neither official is under investigation or charged with a crime.
