Today is Monday, July 28th, 2025, and this is your news and preview of today's show.
The Trump-Epstein scandal continues to unfold, raising serious questions about its impact on his legacy. While removal from office seems unlikely, new polls show Trump’s approval rating dropping to 37 percent, largely due to independents growing concerned. Comparisons are being made to the Watergate scandal, where it was the cover-up rather than the original crime that brought down President Nixon. This time, allegations of child sex trafficking and suspicions of a cover-up have unsettled even some Republicans.
In international news, Donald Trump delivered a widely criticized speech at a recent global summit. His remarks included a harsh condemnation of windmills, which he called the most expensive form of energy and blamed for environmental damage and unusual whale deaths. The speech was marked by incoherent tangents and factual inaccuracies, leaving fellow world leaders visibly uncomfortable.
Meanwhile, at a press conference, Trump struggled to respond clearly when asked whether Israel should allow more food into Gaza. Multiple repetitions of the question seemed to confuse him, and his answers veered into criticism of Democrats and references to his golf course. Observers called the event one of his most difficult public appearances in recent memory.
Trump DNI Tulsi Gabbard reignited controversy by claiming that the Russiagate investigation was a hoax perpetrated by Obama, citing declassified documents she says prove this. Despite her assertions, the overwhelming evidence from the original investigation included numerous indictments and established Russian interference in the 2016 election. Media outlets and political analysts have largely dismissed her claims.
On Capitol Hill, Republican Senator Markwayne Mullin incorrectly stated in an interview that Jeffrey Epstein’s controversial plea deal was struck under President Obama’s administration. Jake Tapper fact-checked the Senator, pointing out the deal was actually made in 2008 during President George W. Bush’s term, overseen by U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta, who later served as Trump’s Secretary of Labor.
Finally, unusual growth in subscriber numbers on a prominent right-wing YouTube channel has drawn attention from analysts. Benny Johnson's channel gained over two million subscribers in just three months without a corresponding increase in views, an anomaly that suggests an artificial subscriber boosts or other forms of manipulation.
That’s the latest news for now. Stay tuned for further updates.
