Today is Wednesday, September 3, 2025, and this is your news and preview of today's show.

A federal judge in California has ruled against Donald Trump’s use of military force in Los Angeles. Judge Charles Breyer said Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops and Marines to assist in immigration crackdowns violated the Posse Comitatus Act, which bars the military from acting as domestic police.

The ruling detailed arrests, checkpoints, and crowd control by troops, calling the actions systematic and willful. Trump is now citing Labor Day weekend violence in Chicago as justification to send in federal forces again, despite opposition from Mayor Brandon Johnson and Governor J.B. Pritzker. The administration has until September 12 to appeal.

In Congress, Trump is facing new pressure over the Epstein files. A bipartisan discharge petition led by Representative Thomas Massie and Representative Ro Khanna is just two Republican signatures away from forcing a vote to release sealed documents.

The White House and Speaker Mike Johnson are working to block the effort, but some of Trump’s allies, including Marjorie Taylor Greene and Nancy Mace, have already signed on. Trump has warned Republicans that backing the petition would be treated as a hostile act.

On the international stage, Trump reacted to a meeting between China’s Xi Jinping, Russia’s Vladimir Putin, and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un. In a Truth Social post, he offered sarcastic congratulations, mixed in historical references to World War II, and complained about being excluded from the gathering.

Back at home, Trump held a press conference to defend his health and announce a plan to move U.S. Space Command from Colorado to Alabama. The announcement was overshadowed by repeated misstatements, including false claims about trillions in foreign investment and the number of wars he said he had ended.

Reporters also questioned Trump about viral video showing garbage bags tossed from White House windows. He insisted the clip was AI-generated. White House officials later confirmed it was a contractor performing maintenance.

Concerns about Trump’s health are growing. Recent audio and video show him with a raspy voice, slower speech, and visible swelling in his hands. Fox News commentators have defended him as healthy, but speculation about illness or even a recurrence of COVID-19 continues.
