Today is Friday, October 3, 2025, and this is your news and preview of today’s show.

Donald Trump may be back in the White House, but several governors are openly defying him. In Pennsylvania, Governor Josh Shapiro said his state will not take orders from Washington or from Trump’s healthcare appointee Robert F. Kennedy Jr., stressing that healthcare decisions will be based on science. California Governor Gavin Newsom announced his state will keep its climate rules despite federal rollbacks, New York Governor Kathy Hochul vowed to protect abortion and gun safety laws, and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker said he will shield immigrants from Trump’s deportation push.

Meanwhile, a viral video of Eric Trump is circulating online in which he repeats the word “they” more than 30 times in 90 seconds, blaming an undefined group for a range of problems.

Economically, Trump’s tariff policies continue to raise concerns. Import duties as high as 50 percent on consumer goods have led to higher prices on items ranging from furniture to kitchen cabinets. Farmers have received bailouts to offset trade war losses, funded by taxpayer dollars.

Polling data suggests Trump’s political position is weakening. A new survey of voters in swing congressional districts found that 49 percent support impeachment, with 45 percent strongly supporting it. Fifty-six percent disapprove of his presidency less than a year into his second term. Analysts call the numbers unprecedented at this stage of a presidency, citing Trump’s use of federal agencies against political opponents, military deployments in U.S. cities, and attempts to pressure media outlets as contributing factors.
