Republicans are increasingly facing hostility at town halls as voters confront the tangible consequences of Trump-era policies. Lawmakers like Barry Moore and Mark Alford struggle to answer questions on tariffs and trade, while constituents see rising grocery prices, household bills, and agricultural losses firsthand. Tariffs meant to protect American industry have ended up increasing costs for consumers and hurting farmers, especially with lost export markets like China.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., in a Fox and Friends interview, suggested psychiatric medications like SSRIs and drugs used in gender transition might contribute to mass shootings, deflecting from firearms as the primary factor. Mass shootings remain overwhelmingly committed by cisgender males, making Kennedy’s claims both scientifically unsupported and irresponsible.
Trump is portraying the Republicans as thriving ahead of the 2026 midterms, claiming fundraising and success while proposing a rare midterm-year convention. However, rising inflation, slow job growth, and backlash at town halls suggest trouble for the party.
“Soft secession” is a proposed strategy for blue states to reduce federal contributions, cutting subsidies to red states. By opting out of grants and aid programs, blue states could pressure red states financially, forcing budget shortfalls in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, without formal secession.
The White House claims Trump, 79, is the healthiest president ever, relying on former doctor Ronny Jackson. However, Trump shows visible health issues including swollen ankles, bruised hands, and a wobbly gait. The exaggerated claims raise concerns about transparency and the president’s actual condition.
Finally, JD Vance may be quietly positioning himself as a contingency leader if Trump cannot finish his term. While remaining visible with Trump, Vance is building his own profile with policy work and fundraisers. Backed by technocratic allies, he could step in and steer the party in a new direction.
On today’s bonus show:
Donald Trump has revoked Kamala Harris’s extended Secret Service protection, a move seen as vindictive given her role as former vice president and 2024 Democratic nominee, putting her safety at risk. And Cracker Barrel reversed a modern logo redesign after right-wing backlash, with Trump celebrating the decision, showing how political outrage and nostalgia can drive reactions to even minor cultural changes.

He knows the only way to have a shot at the midterms is by having his goons spread misinformation and again separate them from reality. That’s why he wants a convention.
Bobby McMeasles considers running as a MAGA conservative Republican in 2028, says Michael Wolff. Apart from Bobby’s cruelty and ignorance, voters won’t accept another insane POTUS in his seventies.
