I guess when you've been lied to 99 percent of the time, you end up believing nothing. Hence, I think it was staged despite your excellent interpretation.

I think that the 1% of trump telling the truth is when he was asked, shortly before the election, if he was going to be a Dictator? He said, “only on the first day”. Unfortunately that was true.

Robert Goldbach's avatar

Yes, and who can remain a dictator for just one day? One must continue being a dictator for life to prevent all of one's directives from being overturned.

Sharon Otstot's avatar

yep I remember that and was shocked at the poor reaction.

Kate's avatar

I agree 100%. Or should I say 600%?!!!

Monty's avatar

I understand where you're coming from, but how would this staging even work? They got some random dude to write a manifesto and show up with weapons?

Sharon Otstot's avatar

Your point is well taken, but Trump was smiling and joking afterwards. There was no urgency or fear, just the opportunity for a presser 30 minutes later to pitch the ballroom being paid by us. Is an elaborate scenario possible? yes Is it probable? Maybe not. We'll see. I'm just suspicious AF.

I agree I don’t know what to believe anymore

Kate's avatar

Yea you cry wolf enough times and people don't care anymore....3 assassination attempts? One shot in his ear that miraculously healed in a week?!!! Ears take a very long time to heal.....and now this? Oh yea this is why we need a ballroom?!!! Because of these attempts? OMG! These attempts IF real are because people HATE this FELON and his entire regime!!! Has nothing to do with party.....it has to do with what he's done and doing to our country!!! Wake UP PEOPLE AND CONGRESS! YOU HAVE THE POWER TO STOP HIM!!! DO IT NOW!!!!!!

Kate's avatar

I have read several articles about how people don’t care. And frankly, one of the reasons I think that Butler and this was probably staged is that the shooters or potential shooters were so incompetent. I really wish somebody would’ve succeeded in taking this vile, subhuman creature out. As a Jewish woman I do hesitate to use the word subhuman given its use in history, but I believe Donald Trump and his devil spawn are all subhuman. And I would be in favour of making sure that none of his kids can have any more children and that none of his grandchildren can breed. We do not need more of these vile, fucking cunt creatures in the world.

These assassination attempts have two main causes: the atmosphere of hatred trump has engendered and the ready availability of guns.

Excellent summary of these brainwashing events. For people who did not read much about other countries and how control and implied use of force changed the course of history- start reading or google. This is the dictator type methodology used by many. In this country it is disturbing to see how many people "bought" into this in the first place. January 6th should have been a shock no one thought was acceptable and yet it was encouraged by Trump and to demonstrate how powerful he is he pardoned all his devotees. That kind of behavior sends a message. Those messages go on daily. Albeit now very erratic as Trump mental and physical health declines. But the Republican party pretends it is normal. Their gain is our loss.

David:

I was highly skeptical of the dinner shooting. My initial thought was the following : that we now live in a society where govt’s can cosplay these safety scenarios to gain public empathy and distract from whatever turmoil they have created. Now after a few moments to collect my thoughts …believe it’s most likely not a staged event and it ends up being sadly a “sign of the times” with our country’s dissatisfaction with this administration, and some mentally unhealthy citizens acting out on their dissatisfaction.

And security functioned exactly as it should, the guy was stopped well before he could do any damage.

Jennifer Burns's avatar

I agree with you David, I don’t think it was staged. However I think you glossed over one very key point that’s peculiar to the particular state of affairs we’re all living through at the moment. The fact that Trump along with his entire administration and almost all Republicans at the federal level at least, have very clearly- within the real world- proven themselves to be outright liars of the first order. We also know that Trump himself has been and still is willing to break any law, fabricate any story, harm any individual in his way in order to achieve his desired goals. When faced with such a venal psychopathic liar of that magnitude, it becomes perfectly rational to simply save time as it were, and just assume that anything at all that occurs within or even near his proximity will most likely involve some level of subterfuge.

Robert Goldbach's avatar

I agree. I think the burden of proof should be on the Trump regime to prove it is NOT lying.

I generally agree with your thinking, David, or can at least appreciate your ideas, but this time, I think you are wrong. I’m not even remotely a conspiracy theorist, whether it’s politics, UFOs or whatever, but this time I do believe these events were staged.

How? Trump hires a guy to charge the door, then pardons him later? It's a possibility, but the simplest explanation is usually the truth. A Trump-hating American with guns (one of millions) decides to take action, hoping perhaps to start a trend. The suspect has a well-developed social media history of hating him.

I'm disappointed that I live in a country that elected this guy twice. To me, that indicates the erosion of critical thinking and is the real emergency.

I believe the assassination attempt was staged the way Trump believes the election he lost was. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

It does not help that we have a President who cries 'fake news' every time that there is anything negative about him or his regime in the media.

Nobody trusts or believes the president or his administration. Very telling.

At first I believed the Butler assassination attempt was real. As time has passed, I now have come to suspect the whole incident was staged, for two reasons:

1) If the bullet clipped Trump's ear, or grazed his cheek, even just a LITTLE, there would be a scar on his cheek OR scarred cartilage of his outer ear. There is NO scar on his cheek and his ear is perfect; NO scar to the cartilage whatsoever.

2) The Secret Service men did not whisk Trump away as they would normally do for any POTUS or ex-POTUS. They allowed Trump to continue with his rally.

Trump lies ALL THE TIME. So, pardon me if I roll my eyes and my knee-jerk reaction is this WHCD event is yet another staged scenario. I'm relieved this would-be assassin was not killed.

RealNowherman's avatar

He was hit by a glass chip from the shattered teleprompter. A small cut, easily covered with makeup.

The other possibility is an elaborate scenario in which a known Trump-hater is recruited by undercover agents to make the attempt, lured onto the rooftop, given an inaccurate weapon, promised a big reward and escape out of the country. The problem with that is, the more people who are in on the op, the greater the chance of leaks or failure. The cops on the perimeter for instance, would have to be paid to look the other way. The Secret Service snipers would have to be told to allow the guy three shots before taking him out. That goes against all their training.

If it was a setup, eventually it will get out. That's not really the important point here. We should focus on getting back into power, and when we do, crushing the whole regime. A purge.

I know this is an old thread, but thank you for being a voice of reason amid these wacky ass theories. I was surprised to See this kind of thing from David’s listeners. These people never seem to mention the fact that there were eight gunshots from the shooter - somebody died, 2 were critically injured, and that the activity could’ve endangered anyone in attendance.

To believe it was a hoax or an "inside setup," conspiracy theorists have to either believe that local rally-goers were "crisis actors" faking a public death in front of thousands of witnesses, or that the organizers intentionally murdered a random attendee just for optics. Neither makes an ounce of sense.Lol. Anyhow, thanks.

It wouldn't all be so suspicious if these events were not always quickly blamed on "the radical left", Trump derangement syndrome etc. The investigations and information seem to slow down or stop altogether when Republicans, guns, far right groups etc are to blame. People do not trust this government, and rightly so. When all you see is lies, cover ups, hypocrisy, deflected blame, suspicion is the natural result.
